Guest guest
A good reason to avoid FCR. Dr. Hamblin thinks it's just tough luck for those who have further problems, but my feeling is that one should not use FCR as a first-line treatment, but keep it in reserve until one has run out of other options. Please learn from the failures of others. _____________________________ Re: Treatment Options Posted by: " Mlweller " Sat Mar 19, 2011 8:33 pm Ann, One of the questions you need to ask anyone who wants to use FCR is what comes after that? My own oncologist/hematolo gist has been using FCR since Keating first came up with it, and now many of his patients that he treated early are getting MDS (which I think means the marrow is not able to produce enough of any of the blood cells needed). Since I am beginning to show that problem myself, after only 3.5 doses of FCR, he has already said he would not give me FCR again but I don¹t know what the other options are... I should add that I had had a lot of Cytoxan already, for breast cancer treatment. My CLL also was treated with Leukeran before the breast cancer. So I¹ve had plenty of toxicity. I will have a bone marrow biopsy (BMB) on Friday, which may tell us something. Good luck Ann! You are wise to have questions ready!
