There are fewer people on this drug because the Sprycel trials started much sooner and many of the resistant or intolerant Gleevec people got onto Sprycel. There are trial open now for AMN-107 I believe. Yes, it works.....it is about 30 x more potent than Gleevec......it is a modification of Gleevec, and people are not having many side effects with it. Because it is still early in the trials, there is not as much information about this drug. You can find a small group of people on this drug at: www.newcmldrug.com click on AMN-107 Talk on the left side C.

Guest guest
Dear , Thanks so much for this info. My onc. told me Tuesday Gleevec is not working that well for me and wants me to go to transplant. Of course, I am an adamant NO still, on that subject, but I told him I'd go the list and see what is out there. BMS is not a good option for me with my lung problems. So, I am VERY interested in AMN and SKI-606. I hear BMS has bone pain side effects also, like Gleevec. I don't want to have this going on forever. From what I've read, AMN has some hair loss, rash, and other milder side effects, but not as bad as Gleevec. I am glad to hear it is 30x greater in potency than Gleevec. My PCR is steadily rising and that is why my doctor wants me to turn to something more effective. I am grateful you chose this time to post about AMN - Lynne A. Many people who have gone from Gleevec to AMN, say that they have fewer side effects with AMN....and it is definitely a more potent drug, so I hope it will work well for you also. Let us know how you do. C.
