Just an update for anyone who is interested: My husband is

on the CAL101 + Rituxan trial at Stanford. He had become

refractory to his seven year treatment with Rituxan

monotherapy. At the beginning of the trial his nodes and

spleen were all huge, and counts were approximately the

following and heading in the wrong direction. (sorry do not

have exact figures with me)

WBC 65

RBC 3.5

HG 11

HCT 33

platelets 60

ABS 57

The first week of taking CAL 101 + R his WBC and lymphs went

up to around 150 as expected because his spleen and nodes

dropped to near normal. Four months later his nodes and

spleen are normal on exam (there are two nodes that the doc

can feel but he believes these are casings), and a CT scan

has been ordered. His bloodwork is as follows:

WBC 8.7 (normal)

RBC 4.69 (normal)

HG 14.5 (normal)

HCT 43 (normal)

Neuts 2.8 (normal)

Platelets 137 (range is 150-400)

ABS 5.25 (range is 1-3)

I think he is going to have a dreaded bone marrow biopsy

soon. (Poor guy had three in a row before start of trial as

they could not get a good sample). In his case he has had no

side effects and is feeling good and continues to work full

time +. We are very pleased with this as is Dr. Courtre,

but of course time will tell how this plays out. I believe

that the combo of R + CAL101 worked well together for him,

he had always responded very well to R in marrow and nodes

until it pretty much stopped working after 7 years of use.

CAL101 in our case is a good name since he is running up and

down California hwy 101 from our front door in Oregon to the

Stanford campus once a month now! : > 450 miles!

Beth

husband dx 2001 at age 48, 11Q in 2005 and disease turned

very aggressive, Rituxan monotherapy from Feb 2003 to the

trail start of Jan 2011. Hoping for the best as we learn

more about CAL101.
