Guest guest
, I have had some skin issues, but like your husband am not too concerned about how cute I am. The only problem that I had concerning skin, which now after two years has seemed to disappeared, is what I would describe as very thin skin. When the problem was the worst, swinging an axe to cut a little wood, would make may skin tear...no toughness to it at all, and I would cut and bleed very easily. That problem has gotten better, but I still have thinner skin than before. But it has not been a big problem...just wear gloves, ha. Guest guest
Dear , Cyber-greetings to your husband, from one stay-at-home Dad to another. Like him, I'm not overly concered with what Gleevec does to my appearance -- it can't get much worse. : ) Warm regards. > > > > > hi everyone just curious how long does it take for your skin to > > > lighten i have been on gleevec for 3 months should i have lightened > > > up already or maybe it won't. Guest guest
, I use to do it to heat my father's wood shop in western N.Y. when we were snowed in from August to about July...but now most of my cutting activity has been cleaning up after hurricanes. The snow might not be so bad, ha. Does anyone know why we are not suppose to take grapefruit juice. I like the stuff and miss it. Is it just when you take the Gleevec or is it forbidden at all times. Guest guest
Hi, . We have two daughters, ages 10 and 6. I've been on Gleevec since May 2005, when I was diagnosed. From the time I was diagnosed, I worked for almost a year, finally going on disability in April 2006. I'm sorry to those of you who have already heard my story ad nauseum, but my side effects include extreme fatigue, memory loss and impaired focus and concentration (i.e., a loss of all the things I need to function as an attorney). I also have a slew of physical side effects (in addition to the fatigue), but alone they wouldn't have put me out of commission. Are side effects the reason for your husband being a stay-at-home Dad? Warm regards. > > > > > > > hi everyone just curious how long does it take for your > >skin to > > > > > lighten i have been on gleevec for 3 months should i have > >lightened > > > > > up already or maybe it won't. Guest guest
-- No--fortunately for us, my husband has few side affects. Many have heard my story as well, but we found out my husband had CML after he experienced a stroke due to a blood clot in his brain. We had to go through alot of recovery for the brain surgeries, then started dealing with the CML. He is currently on 400mg/day Gleevec, and gets fatigue around the time he takes Gleevec, and sometimes experiences nausea and itching, but other than that, so far so good. He became a stay at home dad because one of us was going to do that anyways (me), and once he was diagnosed, along with all of the recovery from surgeries, he was out of work for about 3 months. Things just evolved to how they are today...him staying home with our son, and me working. Fortunately, also, he and his dad own their own real estate business, so he was able to take time off without huge consequences. I am sorry to hear you experience all of those side affects...are you at a 3-log reduction? Are you ever thinking of trying Sprycel to see if your side affects are less? My husband's appt to get all his testing done (to see if he has achieved 3-log red., etc), was for today. He had to cancel appt. to fly to Mexico this morning for a family ermergency. He will be gone for a few days, so now his appt is for next week. We are eager to find out where he is in terms of CML--what the tests reveal. He has been on Gleevec for 7 months now. Guest guest
Hi, . I'm sorry for the family emergency. I hope everything works out OK. And I hope your husband's tests go well next week. Please let us know. I've discussed Sprycel with my doctor and at some point I may decide to try it. I'm a little bit nervous to try it, though, since it has its own side effects -- in a way, I feel like the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know. It's something I'll have to decide. Yes, I've had a 3 log reduction. I reached PCRU last summer (about 15 months after diagnosis). I hope all goes well. Warm regards. > > > > > > > > > hi everyone just curious how long does it take for your > > > >skin to > > > > > > > lighten i have been on gleevec for 3 months should i have > > > >lightened > > > > > > > up already or maybe it won't. Guest guest
Hi : I am glad to hear of your 3-log reduction--that is great news! Too bad about your side affects, though--yep, understand about the devil comment. I have heard alot of people say they are experiencing less side affects with Sprycel, but I dont know too terribly much about it, except that it is just more " potent " than Gleevec. Hopefully your side affects are tolerable and you are able to enjoy your children...and life in general. The best to you and your family, >From: " doveh12 " <deh12@...> >Reply- > >Subject: Re: [ ] Gleevec and Skin >Date: Sat, 10 Feb 2007 00:45:30 -0000 > >Hi, . > >I'm sorry for the family emergency.
