Guest guest
Oh dear Jill, That's sad news, you have my sympathy. I'm not sure why you would seek to reduce meds for an operation, of any sort... If you need thyroid hormones, then they are important at these times to keep your metabolism running smoothly. I understand that you just carry on with your normal dosage. Will be thinking of you on Monday, Best wishes . > > Hi all, > > thanks for your continuing support and help, however as of yesterday it seems that my surprise pregnancy ( posted here beg dec ) is no longer viable and am booked for d and c under a general on Monday, have had a quick look in the files but can't see anything and have a brain block , can someone please advise as to when to stop my meds..many thanks again. > > xx >
Guest guest
So very sorry to hear the outcome and hope you are bearing up OK. This must be a terrible time for you and I hope everything goes OK Monday without any further problem. I do not think you have to stop taking your meds at all. In fact I would say your body needs to be as strong as possible as any procedure puts it into stress. I think the reason certain meds are stopped (for a length of time depending on the meds) is so as not to skew up any tests being done with false results. My thoughts will be with you on Monday. Guest guest
Hi Jill, I am so sorry to hear of this very sad news. I do remember you posting a message telling us all how surprised you were to find you had fallen pregnant. This is such a shame and I feel for you and hope everything goes well. However, there is no need to stop your thyroid hormone replacement, or any other medication as far as I am aware before your operation. However, it is always best to seek the advice of your doctor. Guest guest
> hi sheila, Thank you very much and to everbody...as said to unfortunately started bleeding and cramping this morning but still to go to get assessed tomorrow. Just all started from a gyn appointment just about a week and a half ago ( the gyn I was seeing about my endmetriosis treatment ) I said to her had fallen pregnant but was having some brown spotting and referred me to early pregnancy at my local hospital where they carried out scan and wasn't looking good the growth was about 4 weeks out . Was told to come back in a week ( Thursday there ) where scans were repeated and sadly no heartbeat, heat or significant growth. I am lucky to have two healthy children I know, still doesn't make the pain or loss any less worse. Thanks to everybody for their kind words and support . Guest guest
HI JILL I am sorry to hear that you have lost your unborn baby. My Daughter lost several pregnancies before she was put on thyroxine, but her last Daughter now 9 despite being on thyroxine was brain damaged due to placenta abruption, as the baby stopped growing and could have lacked oxygen. She developed epilepsy at about 2, and very behind at school. My Daughter lost hers in the first 3 months, but I think if you get to the end of pregnancy you should have bed rest like I did for high BP which I think prevented the placenta problem. I had a good GP at the time who kept sending me back into hospital, but my Daughter was not given this care, but is this an all round problem in the NHS today in turn causing loss of life and damage to babies. I was not on thyroxine.
