HI

I can also get this hungry feeling, but I try to ake my mind off of it as it

does not feel a natural feeling of hunger and if I do fill myself with food I

have been ill as a result.

I also get a very dry mouth at night and I am sure that the more I drink the

more I have to get up at night and my mouth gets even more dry. I would also say

that cheese is one of the worst things that I have experianced problems with,

but I would say that I am more vegan now on diet, and not experianced the

feeling of hunger.

Hi Bernie, Have a look in the forum files for the symptoms list of adrenal and thyroid symptoms. There is also an excellent comparative symptoms list on http://www.drrind.com called his scorecard matrix which may help you sort out what your problems are. thyroid treatment From: rtdbateman@...Date: Fri, 11 Feb 2011 01:12:57 +0000Subject: Always hungry ! The 2 Nutri Adrenal Extra a day information given by Nutri Ltd

is the daily recommended dose only. When you have adrenal fatigue (low adrenal

reserve) in association with symptoms of hypothyroidism, then you need to take

as many tablets as your adrenals need to make them function fully so that the

thyroid hormone can be absorbed at cellular level. You can take up to 6 tablets

daily but if you need more, this is usually an indication you need a short

course of hydrocortisone. Keep increasing your dose by one tablet every 10

days, taking one tablet with breakfast and the other with your lunch, but never

after 1.00p.m.

You could well have an adrenal problem, but go to our FILES

section, accessible from the Home page of our forum thyroid treatment

and on the list that opens, click on Medical Questionnaires and answer the

questions in the Adrenal Questionnaire and see how you score. Also, click on

the FOLDER 'Adrenals' and in there, click on 'Home Testing' and check out how

you respond.

You SHOULD NOT BE STARTING T3 IF YOU HAVE LOW ADRENAL RESERVE

until you have started taking an adrenal supplement for at least 7 days without

taking any other thyroid hormone replacement.

Hi, Bernie:

A quick question, do you eat any wheat? If so, how much per day? Cereal, bread,

pasta?

Hi Sheila,This was so interesting to read. I have a hyper-active thyroid and adrenal fatigue. Do thyroid and adrenal problems usually occur together, even of the hyper-active variety that I have? I didn't know there was a connection before I read this. Is nutri adrenal extra better than other adrenal support products that you have tried? I have battled adrenal fatigue for the last 20 years and am still tired in the mornings and sometimes afternoons. I take all kinds of supplements for it but I figure that constant stress and lack of sleep are keeping me from getting better. I know I would be far worse without the supplements I take, however. Where is the least expensive website to order the nutri adrenal extra from? Thanks,CherylFrom: Sheila <sheila@...>Subject: RE: Always hungry ! Hi, Bernie. Homemade rye bread sounds delicious; but, if it's typical, it's made

with about 2/3 wheat flour because rye by itself has a very strong flavor.

Beware of even the best whole-grain organic wheat.

Wheat has a unique ability to trigger hunger and keep people from feeling

satiated. A couple of slices of wheat-containing bread per day could have that

effect on you. Here's a link to the blog of a cardiologist who's written a lot

about wheat and the problems it can cause. It's an epiphany.

I wish you all possible luck reaching your goals!

Read Dr Peatfield's paper about the thyroid and adrenal

connection. What hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism have in common is the cruel

enemy 'stress'. http://www.tpa-uk.org.uk/thyroid_adrenal_dysfunction.pdf

Nutri Adrenal Extra has been found to work well, and this is why

Dr Peatfield recommends it. The best place to buy it from is Nutri Ltd.

Go to the FILES section on the Home Page of this forum http://health.groups//group/thyroid treatment

and click on FILES. On the Page that opens, scroll down to the FOLDER 'Discounts

on Tests and Supplements' and then open the Nutri Ltd. document. Follow the

instruction there to get 33% discount as a member of TPA.

Hi Bernie

You sound really like me, along with the test results! Please read up on

REACTIVE HYPOGLYCEMIA. It's common to be hypoglycemic with thyroid and adrenal

problems by the way. It's basically low blood sugar, but to get diagnosed

properly, you need an extended glucose tolerance test. You basically fast, then

bloods are taken as a baseline, then you're given a sugary drink and your bloods

are measured every half hour for up to five hours. It's really important to ask

the endo for the extended test (ie 5 hours). They mostly only test up to 2 hours

and this misses a lot of people who react after this time - I reacted after 3.5

hours, with just the symptoms you're describing.

The solution is to eat a low glycemic index diet, which from what you're saying,

you're probably doing. Are you having carbs? You can't miss them out all

together, you just need to make sure you don't have vast amounts and that you

eat complex carbs. You will need to eat frquently lke you do I'm afraid (I know

from my own experience what a pain it is).

If the diet still doesn't help (and there's lots of good books out there) there

are meds that the endo can prescribe to help.

All the best

Susie

I have found that a diet free of grains and sugar has helped loads, it takes

some adapting to but is perfectly manageable. You do not get much nutrition in

grain or sugar and the foods that you can replace these items with can be far

more nutrient dense and lower calorie too. It also got rid of the bulging belly

- and rosacea that was on my face, that the GP couldn't get rid of with all

his potions and creams.

what meds does the endo give you? When i asked the endo i saw in december, he

said there was no such condition as reactive hypoglycemia unless you're

diabetic and on insulin. he said any problems i had were all in my mind - there

was no physical reason to eat. he was a very unpleasant individual, to say the

least. he was actually off sheila's list, too.

i very much doubt any endo would treat you for it in this country - and can only

imagine that the med you're referring to is metformin given offlabel? i suspect

that very few drs would do that eitehr.
