Guest guest
Hi My daughter also needs lactose free HC. I have search for one but in the end see has to have a special liquid made for her. It is prescribed by the GP and I get it from Boots. Also I think dales do a tablet on special order but again it would be on prescription. Problem is its more expensive and the liquid is very expensive. GP not happy because of cost and only prescribing until she has weaned off HC before her next appointment with endo. If they decide she does needs HC it will be another battle with GP. Guest guest
Thanks Judy. I don't think I get on well enough with my NHS doctor to be able to try this. But I am now taking Solgar's Lactase tablets with my cortef. So far this has been very helpful - I no longer feel like throwing up. And although I'm only taking a small dosage of cortef (10mg / day) it immediately had an effect (no more hypoglycemia!!). I don't know how much lastase quells how much lactose, so I'm playing around with the amounts to try to determine this (and the amount also depends on stomach acid, because the acid digests proteins, and as lactase is an enzyme, it contains protein). Guest guest
Good news on your improving health. I'm glad you have found something that helps with taking the HC. My daughter is having to wean off HC so the endo can test her adrenals. If she does need HC she can try Lactase with the it as I don't think GP will prescribe the liquid HC anymore because of the cost.
