Guest guest
Thanks Sheila My specialist has asked for me to get FSH and LH testing done through my GP before I see him on Thursday. When I phoned for an appointment they told me that my GP is on holiday and to go to the practice Nurse for the tests. I am thinking about blagging and telling her that I need the full thyroid panel doing as well. Have I read somewhere that she will have to write something specific about FT3. Sorry about asking you to handhold but the brain fog not too good at the moment Luv Debbie > > This is what SOME doctors believe and follow, but the fact is that the TSH
Guest guest
Hi Debbie, we are here to " hand hold " - we've been there, worn the T-shirt and come out on top, so know what we can do to help you and what it feels like to have 'been there'. Memories linger on. Give it a go and see if it works - without trying, you will never know. Remember, this is YOUR health and the surgery is there to help you regain your health. To get your free T3 tested, the doctor should not ask for this to be done with a TSH and free T4. She needs to write a blood request form for TSH and free T3 ONLY and if willing, should write '? hyperthyroidism' on the form. That way, the pathologist should do the test. Most refuse point blank if a 'full' thyroid function test is requested because they would say that if TSH is normal, there is no need to test for the others, or if TSH and free T4 is normal, they refuse to test free T3. Guest guest
Thanks Sheila got a result for TSH this week but not FT4 or the antibodies am I better asking for them before the ft3 Luv Debbie > > Hi Debbie, we are here to " hand hold " - we've been there, worn the T-shirt >
Guest guest
You should have got these results when you got the TSH result - it might be that the laboratory has not even bothered testing for these, in which case, ask your GP to telephone the laboratory to ask for the reason why they are refusing to test what he is requesting. A TSH is absolutely NO GOOD on it's own, whatever a doctor or laboratory might try to tell you. You need your free T3 testing also, with your TSH and free T4 - and they should all have been done at the same time.
