Guest guest
Jaki, it looks like you are probably talking about the British Thyroid Association, British Thyroid Foundation and Association of Clinical Biochemists Hypothyroid Guidelines. You will find these here http://www.british-thyroid-association.org/info-for-patients/Docs/TFT_guideline_final_version_July_2006.pdf However, since those guidelines on thyroid function testing, the Royal College of Physicians and the British thyroid Association have brought out a further 'guidance' on the diagnosing and management of primary hypothyroidism - showing their recommended TSH level is 0.5 to 10.0 and that patients should not be diagnosed if their TSH appears anywhere within this range http://www.british-thyroid-association.org/news/Docs/hypothyroidism_statement.pdf .. I'm afraid they have made a bad job of things and got their knickers in a twist - as you will see they really have no idea what they are talking about anymore, and can't even back up their statements by citing references to the scientific evidence. All of this is just their opinion.
