What's going on with T4 in France

I don't know if all this has made the papers in UK but there is a big scandal

going on in France about a drug that was given to diabetics to help them lose

weight.  It turned out that this drug (MEDIATOR) was giving people mitral valve

problems and was probably responsible for a large number of deaths.  To add to

the scandal, it appears that certain people have been saying that it was

dangerous for over 10 years and that the powers that be of the medical world did

nothing about it.

The spin off from all this is a list of drugs that has been published this

afternoon.  These drugs are all going to be reviewed because it is considered

that even if they do what they are supposed to, they have too many drawbacks

(!!?) whatever that means.  One of the drugs on this list is the standard T4

drug that is given to people who have thyroid problems.  This begs the question,

what will they give thyroid patients if it is withdrawn from the market?

It is going to be interesting to see how all this turns out........
