I wish everyone improved health as soon as posssible.Thankyou for all your support. Kindest Regards, Bernie From: Sheila <sheila@...>thyroid treatment Sent: Sun, 6 March, 2011 18:33:56Subject: RE: Curious..how long does it take to return to baseline levels after stopping NDT? [1 Attachment] If they only test TSH and fT4, your TSH will probably still register as quite suppressed as it can take weeks to catch up with either taking thyroid hormone replacement or stopping it. Your free T4 will probably also show that it is reasonably high in the reference range, so your doctor will think your thyroid tests are OK. Try to avoid these if you can until you have been off thyroid meds for at least 6 weeks - longer if possible Andy. I would ask your Mum to write to her GP and ask him exactly WHY he refuses to do these tests as every one of them is VERY important in their association with thyroid hormone absorption. See the attached and show these, if necessary, to the doctor in question. Yes, doctors are trying to save their surgeries money when they are there to save their patients health. It is up to us to demand our doctors give us good clear evidence as to why there is no reason to carry out such testing - and they are not able to. Call their bluff! Luv - Sheila Another quickie..I recently supplied my hypo symptomatic mother with a list of tests to request from her GP..he ok'd most of them but wouldn't ok 25-hydroxyvitamin D,potassium,magnesium,zinc,copper..are these tests not available on the NHS..or is this simply NHS penny pinching? As always thanks for your time..~Andy~
