Went to the doc today...not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

I told him about the pain and he again gave me meloxicom and ordered tests again

for inflammatory factor since I am quite bad at the minute he is hoping for a

better result.

While he was adding in that prescription he asked did I need any more Thyroxine.

I told him I stopped taking it and was taking NDT instead.

He asked what it was and where was I getting it and I showed him the bottle and

he said OK...

I then told him how much I started with and how much I was now taking. I told

him I didn't think I was where I needed to be and asked him for the thyroid

tests.

He said that was fine and ordered TSH,T4,T3 and antibodies. I asked about Free

T4 and Free T3 and he said even if he ordered it the lab they have to use won't

do it as they don't think those tests are relevant to treatment. But I believe

if he had been allowed he would have ordered those as well. He said if I found a

lab to do it they would do the blood draw so that is something at least.

Anyway..now to await the results.. Overall am Pleased with how it all worked out

today.

Didn't want to push my luck today so didn't ask for the Vits and minerals to be

done...but at least I know he is open to suggestions.

Cheers

At least he seems a bit more open minded .

In the meantime, I have been googling Joint Pain and come across Dr Lowe's

website on Thyroid and there is a very interesting section which might apply to

our Joint Pain. It says that since we are getting the right thyroid treatment

at last our liver starts taking out the correct amount of cortisol from our

blood and maybe more, leaving us with little defence against inflammation.

Apparently when we are hypo the liver is sluggish and is slow to remove it

leaving us with sufficient in the system. This is a thought and one I am now

going to investigate through an adrenal saliva test. Haven't had one for ages

and need to do it whilst I've still got the joint pain. I am seeing if it

reduced now I've come off the armour and will just get by on Nutri Thyroid in

the meantime as I've got to elimnate the problem here.

Just a thought and you may have your adrenals checked.

Good luck

The laboratory has no right whatsoever to refuse to do the tests

ordered by your doctor. If I was the doctor I would want to know what they base

their assumption on that doing a free T4 and free T3 is irrelevant to

treatment. I would make them cite the references to show the scientific

evidence available that shows doing such tests are not relevant. Your doctor IS

allowed to order the tests and he should demand this right by telephoning the

laboratory and speaking to the head man and telling him that as you are taking

T3, he needs to monitor you properly. They do these tests for anybody who is

suspected of becoming hyPERThyroid. Therefore, have a word with your

doctor and ask him to write out a blood request form for you requesting TSH and

free T3 and to write " ? hyperthyroidism " - that way, they will

do the tests you need.
