Guest guest
I noticed someone mentioned excluding eggs from their diet and thought I might share my experience with them. I found at one point I was getting very sensitive to eggs. Doing a bit of detective work I factored in that 1. I am allergic to penicillin - and battery hens can get a lot of that to keep them healthy in their awful conditions. 2. I am allergic to shell fish (and have to be in the right physical shape to tolerate fish of any sort - or is that mental state?) and a lot of chicken feeds are very high on fish content. I remember opening some eggs and smelling the fish. So I stopped eating eggs for a while and then started on Free Range eggs and really enjoyed them again. One of my local Free Range sellers kept their hens on virtually nothing but mud - so I didn't fancy them as much! Now I keep my own hens and could almost live on eggs! Not to mention the pleasure the birds give me to watch! Cheers Pippa
Guest guest
I'm glad you got sorted out on the egg front - I was glad you weren't going to say 'stay off eggs' as I too have a few free range & I love the eggs :-) All the best, Dot > So I stopped eating eggs for a while and then started on Free Range eggs and really enjoyed them again. Guest guest
i'm a hen (and cockerel) keeper too and they are an utter delight...i had a very dark year last year and they were one thing that made me laugh and smile on a daily basis...i am ashamed to be part of the same species that keeps these creatures in the appalling battery conditions BUT i believe the eu has or is about to (at long last) outlaw the sale of battery raised eggs. eggs from hens that live a natural life are astoundingly good nutrition and ditto that for everything we eat. we have to wake up and stop eating garbage. > > I noticed someone mentioned excluding eggs from their diet and thought I might share my experience with them.
