Guest guest
hi kooky 1. If unable to metabolize Armour & Thyroxine for hypothyroidism, what are the alternatives? do you mean you have tried armour and/or thyroxine (t4) and you don't feel any better ....if on t4 only you may have a conversion problem but there is t3 in armour so if you've tried that and you don't feel any better it could be due to too much reverse t3 that blocks your t3 receptors also, if your vit, mineral and ferritin status is below par that will also stop t4 or armour (ndt) being able to be utilised and ditto too high or too low cortisol! candida will also stop you being able to use thyroid hormones. 2. Loosing eyebrows, and recently noted, loosing eyelashes, is this caused by the hypo? yes they can be. your tsh shows outside the reference range but regardless of that most people feel well with a tsh of 1 (or under) so no wonder you are struggling. your ft4 is too low. you need to know what ft3 is as well. magnesium may help with irregular heartbeat and i believe that mag orotate is a type that is highly recommended for the heart. can you get your gp to test for levels of vit b12, vit d3, folate, zonc, magnesium, copper, ferritin (iron store) ...all these need to be in good order for thyroid hormone to be utilised. chances are at least part of your heart problems are thyroid related ...what treatment are you currently on and what are your other health issues? here's the link to the iodine group iodine/ trish > > > > 1. LUV - SHEILA ____________________________________________________ Hi Trish Thanks for your reply. My CPYs enzymes in the liver are not working, specially those utilized to metabolize medications.Even the smallest dose would reach toxicity level. I tried twice and ended up in A & E with dangerous heart arrytmias. I have already done those tests you mentioned, in the meantime, I am desperately trying to somehow find an alternative solution to thyroxine and armor, or porcine/bovine hormones (tried that too). I am taking magnesium orotate occasionally. I have heart failure, and other cardiac problems, allergies, MCS, autonomic, etc... quite a long list. If at least the hypothryoidism was addressed, it would go a long way in alleviating some nasty symptoms. My GP will not do a T3 and so, I have to try and work with the info I have right now. As for Vitamin tests and minerals from what I read, lab works are not reliable.(Had mine done privately several times). If we are to rely on serum tests, all is in order except low in folate (and I can't take those either nor can I eat greens), copper is elevated, ferritin is elevated because I eat a lot of lamb (if I don't i become weaker breathless and arrythmia, tried L Carnitine, didn't help). Its complicated and complex. Every morning when I wake up, I am weak, feel ill, and arrythmia could be AF I am not sure, till I eat something. Did blood sugar level several times, came back normal. I bought a kit from Boots and will monitor. Cortisol is slightly low, not tested recently. Any other comments much appreciated, Kooky > > 1. Guest guest
Trish: Hope am typing this reply properly, having deleted previous posts. Correction: my TSH : 4.04 ref rge 0.32 - 5 my Free T 4 is : 8.7 ref rge 7.5 - 21 What does it mean if TSH is too high and my T4 too low? What are the objectives I need to try address? Meaning, should I try and bring the TSH lower and the T4 higher? All this by using herbs, vits and supps and any other. The symptoms of hypothyroidism are very severe. Thanks for the links for Iodine group, I just posted there. Kookie
Guest guest
Hi, why not try a magnesium spray as the pills are often not absorbed and the spray goes in through the skin. love janet

Guest guest
hi Kooky, The alternative to T4 and natural dessciated thyroid is T3- liothyronine- the most common active thyroid hormone. However this is very powerful in action so is to be treated with caution. Have you done the adrenal questionnaire in the forum files? This may go some way to explain why you are not responding to Armour or T4. there are also the usual vit and mineral deficiencies that may also affect thyroid hormone effectivenss- low iron, selenium, zinc, vit D, folate. As you already have heart problems this is another reason to take possible trials of T3 very cautiously indeed. thyroid treatment From: sheila@...Date: Thu, 10 Mar 2011 10:40:00 +0000Subject: RE: Two Questions - Not simple BUMPING THIS MESSAGE for Kooky Sheila _______________________________________________ 1.
