Guest guest
Hi Han, Don't get worked up about the numbers if you can't use T4 properly then the math won't work either! You problem may be the T4 converting to RT3, blocking the T3 receptors which then leaves the T3 sloshing around and making you feel hyper, when you're not. do the adrenal questionnaire and see if there is a problem there- if not then try T3 alone- it may take 12 weeks for the RT3 to clear.you may do OK on Armour or NDT, I do ,but can't take artificial T4- must be the fillers or the artificial molecule. T3 alone is fine though. > thyroid treatment > From: hannahleahy@...> Date: Mon, 10 Jan 2011 13:43:52 +0000> Subject: Can T3 lower body Temp?> > Just wondering if people have any experience of body temps falling whilst taking T3 I have been on T3/T4 for 3 weeks now and I don't think it's agreeing with me. It's difficult to know if it's a tolerance thing or if it's sending me hyper. Im confused. I have introduced the dose slowly and in divided doses but I feel more tired and fatigued. I also notice that my temps have lowered. Low temps (> If I am not doing well on combination therapy would that indicate that I may not do well on natural thyroid - as T3 is included?> Sorry about the long post. Guest guest
Lower body temps upton T3 i would see a sign of adrenals. Are you supporting them in anyway or have you had a saliva test done ? > > Just wondering if people have any experience of body temps falling whilst taking T3 I have been on T3/T4 for 3 weeks now and I don't think it's agreeing with me. Guest guest
Hi Han, http://www.nature.com/nm/journal/v10/n6/abs/nm1051.html This might help explain what can happen. Guest guest
Hi Doing a saliva test today will be interested to see results , no adrenal support as yet Han > > Lower body temps upton T3 i would see a sign of adrenals. Guest guest
Thanks Bob v interesting if I understood it! I found it just a little too scientific and over my foggy head! Guest guest
> >Thanks Trish Yes " odd " is a very good way of describing it. I'm not convinced that I'm going hyper either as my body seems to be crying Hypo Hypo! and esp as my temps are so low. My basal Temp is usually (36.0 -36.3) but lowers mid morning and afternoon (35.9 - 36.2) - sometimes as low as 35, when that happens I feel awful. Usually temps rise in the late evening and get up to 36.6, then I feel a bit better. I take high dose Vit C with various other supplements but I can't seem to tolerate Siberian Ginseng. I do have himalayan salt which I take but recently I must admit I have not been taking it on a regular basis. Did you manage to tolerate T3 in the end, and if so how did you do it? Han > > hello han > > in the past i've tried taking 6.25mcg t3 and almost immediately felt *odd* and tired ...i think it's definitely adrenal related. t3 needs/uses up cortisol
Guest guest
With your temp dropping as low as 35 I would say that is a definate sign your adrenal can't cope with the t3. Whenever I see my temps drop after taking my t3 I usually take an extra 5mg of hc and it raises back up. I would look at getting some nutri adrenal extra for the time being until you get your saliva results back, the post then to the adrenal group and they can advise if you need isocort/hc and what dose to start based on your results. Good luck
Guest guest
i think your temp going lower as the day wears on is indicative of adrenals needing more support...i've found salt to be absolutely essential to try and get temps stable but i also find it difficult to remember to take it regularly ....daft isn't it, but part of the nature of wobbly adrenals!!! i have yet to get myself to a point where temps are sufficiently stable so i haven't tried taking t3 again ...1 take one nax and one na (and the *usual* other supps) ,...last year i was taking 3 nax and 1 nutri thyroid but i felt like my stomach was in knots all the time/acute anxiety type feeling but i also had a hellishly stressful private life which obviously wasn't helping! trish > > > >Thanks Trish I do have himalayan salt which I take but recently I must admit I have not been taking it on a regular basis. > Did you manage to tolerate T3 in the end, and if so how did you do it? > Han >
Guest guest
Han, are you doing what Dr Rind suggests http://www.drrind.com/therapies/metabolic-temperature-graph It is quite likely your temperature is dropping because you have low adrenal reserve. Follow his recommendation about taking your temperature at the same time three times a day and watch it carefully to see how it rises as you start taking adrenal supplementation. Luv - Sheila Just wondering if people have any experience of body temps falling whilst taking T3 I have been on T3/T4 for 3 weeks now and I don't think it's agreeing with me. It's difficult to know if it's a tolerance thing or if it's sending me hyper. Im confused. I have introduced the dose slowly and in divided doses but I feel more tired and fatigued. I also notice that my temps have lowered. Low temps ( low throughout the day) have been a feature of my poor health for the past 6 months as well as a slow pulse. I notice that T3 has brought my pulse higher from low 50's to 60+. I took my morning dose of T3 sublingually today and I certainly felt a bad reaction - dizzy and low body temp of 35c and v tired with slight nausea. I do think that perhaps my adrenals are not strong enough to cope with the increased dose of medication my end has put me on. (I have posted about this before) from 100mcgs T4 to 50 mcgs T4 and 40mcgs T3 that would be total thyroid replacement T4 210mcgs.? Even when I was first diagnosed 15yrs ago and my TSH was very elevated I was only put on 125mcgs T4. I have not been able to get to 40mcgsT3, I have just managed 20mcgs daily. I am today in the process of doing the saliva adrenal profile.
