Guest guest
do you have any risk factors (such as large neck) for sleep apnea? has this been ruled out? Chris
Guest guest
Hi, temps and TSh show that you are not yet on sufficient thyroid replacement- this should then reduce your sleep needs. Guest guest
I use this product if my temps are high at night and it helps me to fall asleep http://www.pureformulas.com/seriphos-100-capsulesinterplexus-by-ayush-herbs.html and if you use swanson's you may also want to try this one because people take it specifically for sleep...you may want to read the reviews. http://www.swansonvitamins.com/SWC047/ItemDetail Another thing which helps is to eat some protein just before you go to bed. I'll have a bite of very sharp cheddar cheese and I also will keep a piece by my bedside if I wake up at that 3:00 am moment. Waking up in the middle of the night is often low blood sugar, if you are not diabetic, you can keep a small glass of orange juice by your bed and drink that if you wake up. Cheers, JOT > Even if I stay in bed for 12 hours it feels I've only slept 6 or 7 hours and feel tired throughout the day.
Guest guest
Remember not to takE NAX after midday. they keep you awake. --- i too have sleep problems. i have lowish temperatures before going to bed , about 36.3 and a bit higher in the morning. i use liquid melatonin and put it under my tongue which goes straight into the blood stream. if i wake up at night i put more under my tongue. i keep it beside my pillow. this helped for a long time. however, i got used to it and now take also valerian, 2 tablets and melantonin and if wake up , i take melatonin. i must say that Dr P advises people to take valium because he feels it is more important for the adrenals to get sleep that take take valium. I notice that if i tire myself walking or swimming , i sleep well. berny

Not exactly a benzo but not exactly a herbal prep either. It does also come as a herbal formula (green box) but I found the herbal one did nothing for me. Piriton has the same dozy effect on me. I try only to take something if I have something to do the next day that requires a good night's sleep. Or if I've had a run of poor sleep. They lose their efficacy if taken too many nights in a row. I also have some zopiclone which is there for emergencies i.e. sometimes the quality of the insomnia requires something stronger. I know you don't want to touch the hard stuff but for me it's reassuring to know it's there - I use them at the rate of @ 1 a month) Good luck - insomnia is the pits! Guest guest
Have you considered trying an increase in your dose of Melatonin which you can buy from Biovea to see if that helps with your sleep pattern. This works for many people but you need to find the dose that works for you. You also need to have complete blackness when you go to sleep, no chinks of lamplight filtering through the curtains. Melatonin helps you get back into a proper sleep pattern. Your 11p.m. cortisol test shows why you are unable to sleep, at this time, your cortisol level should be at its lowest in the range so this probably is showing why you are waking 4 or 5 hours into sleeping. The rest of your results are not too bad. You need to start a course of Nutri Adrenal Extra which you can get 33% discount from Nutri Ltd by being a member of TPA. Go to our Files section accessible from the Home Page of this web site and click on 'Discounts on Tests and Supplements' and open the Nutri Ltd File and follow the instructions there. Start by taking one tablet with breakfast, and after 7 days, add another tablet with your lunch (don't take after 1.00p.m.). After another 7 to 10 days, add another tablet with breakfast and after another 7 to 10 days - add another with your lunch. You can take up to 6 tablets daily, but if symptoms persist, you might need to try Isocort or go on a short course of hydrocortisone. Guest guest
In going back to basics that work, many people find that taking the *powder* form of Magnesium just before sleep, 1 teaspoon dissolved in 6 oz of water, puts them to sleep easily and gently and they sleep wonderfully. You usually won't get up to use the bathroom either. If you do awake at night, keep half the amount in a glass by your bedside. The magnesium pills and capsules do not work the same as the powder. It is only the powder which seems to help with sleep. Magnesium is so very important and so overlooked. It's worth a try. It can also be taken with Melatonin http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Vitality-Calm-16-powder/dp/B000OQ2DL4/ref=sr_1_2?i\ e=UTF8 & qid=1299953263 & sr=1-2-catcorr Cheers, JOT
Guest guest
Hi JOT, Is the magnesium powder you refer to magnesium carbonate? Just wondering as I have some I'm supposed to take at night to help redress an issue which is causing magnesium malabsorption at mitochondrial level. It's a very lightweight powder. Regards, Sue
Guest guest
This is the one I usually buy with all the magnesium sorts in it, but they were out of it last time I was at the vitamin shop, so I am now using the NOW with just the Citrate. http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=GZ-1001 using this at the moment: http://www.iherb.com/now-foods-magnesium-citrate-100-pure-powder-8-oz-227-g/1101\ ?at=0 The first one fizzles more than the NOw brand, but they both work very well to put you to sleep. Guest guest
Thanks for the info. I'll try magnesium powder as I am oh so very desperate about getting proper sleep. Sometimes I think what is the point in living when in a constant state of sleep deprivation I always read proper sleep is essential to restore adrenal and thyroid function but loss of quality of sleep and insomnia are also one of the major symptoms of poor adrenal/thyroid function. Chicken and egg comes to mind > > > This is the one I usually buy with all the magnesium sorts in it, but they were out of it last time I was at the vitamin shop, so I am now using the NOW with just the Citrate. Guest guest
Does anyone have a good source of magnesium citrate powder in the UK? Thanks Jo > I always read proper sleep is essential to restore adrenal and thyroid function but loss of quality of sleep and insomnia are also one of the major symptoms of poor adrenal/thyroid function. Guest guest
Apart from NAX I tend to get all my suplements from iherb in america. Keep the total to under £18 to pay no import tax and less that 3pound in weight and postage is 4 dollars. There supplements are usually a lot cheaper than elsewhere and they have all the big names. P.S Have you tried Melatonin for your sleep problem? > > Does anyone have a good source of magnesium citrate powder in the UK? > Thanks > Jo > > > I always read proper sleep is essential to restore adrenal and thyroid > function but loss of quality of sleep and insomnia are also one of the > major symptoms of poor adrenal/thyroid function. >

Guest guest
I just got a tub of Natural Calm Magnesium Supreme (Citrate) powder from eBay UK. It was expensive at £20 inc P & P but I am desperate. If it works then GREAT! I'll then try the NOW brand of Magnesium Citrate powder. Thanks. > > Apart from NAX I tend to get all my suplements from iherb in america. > Keep the total to under £18 to pay no import tax and less that 3pound in weight and postage is 4 dollars. Guest guest
Hi Can you let me know how you get on with Natural Calm Magnesium Supreme powder as it was one I was considering too. It sounds great on the description so let's hope it works. Can you also let me know what it tastes like! I didn't know it was available through ebay so that's very helpful too. Thanks, Jo > > I just got a tub of Natural Calm Magnesium Supreme (Citrate) powder from eBay UK. It was expensive at £20 inc P & P but I am desperate. Guest guest
My temps can jump from 36.2C upon waking to 37.0C 3 hours later. Is this a good sign or are my adrenals getting worse and that's the reason for such large swings in basal body temp? > > > > I just got a tub of Natural Calm Magnesium Supreme (Citrate) powder > from eBay UK.
