Guest guest
Neil - taking a diuretic can certainly be a cause of you excreting too much phosphate in your urine. What diuretic do you take. You might be better off taking a potassium saving diuretic such as Moduretic 60mgs. You also need your GP to check your levels of VITAMIN D - which is extremely important, if he has not done so already. Phosphate can be low in those who have insufficient levels of vitamin D. See http://www.chemocare.com/managing/hypophosphatemia-low-phosphate.asp Luv - Sheila Evening everyone Well I've had a call from the Drs and they have advised me that some blood test results have come in and one of them is low. I had further TFTs done, following my Endo's request to reduce dosage of Levothyroxine. I'm told my results are: TSH = 0.17 up from 0.07 (Range is not known) T4 = 16.5 down from 18 (Range is not known) Receptionist mentioned that my " Phosphate " levels were very low, I don't have the precise number, but my GP has requested I restest in a week. I am on a diuretic and have been for over 2 years, so suspect this may be the cause for the low result, however this is very low and I've never had it mentioned before. Can anyone explain what this Phosphate is and perhaps it's interaction with my thyroid ? Yours ... Neil
Guest guest
Phone your doctors Neil and ask for the reference ranges for these tests and post them here. free T3 at 2.2 doesn't mean a thing and our problems are that when doctors give a result telling us it is 'normal' or a 'good result' - they will say that simply because your result appears SOMEWHERE within the reference range. We need to know WHERE exactly - bottom, middle or top. Luv - Sheila My T3 is sitting at 2.2 (reference not given) but says this is a good result. Last T3 which I was unaware was done, was 1.9 (reference not given) and he said the 75mcg shows a definate sign of improvment. Phosphate level is only marginally low and is a result of my Bendroflumethiazine treatment (Meniere's Disease) - unfortuneatly there is no alternative diuretic which is as effective in removing endolymphatic fluid - so stuck on this for life ! _,_._,___
