Guest guest
Hi and All, Just an update - we have an appointment tomorrow to see the Paediatrian specialising in endocrinology. I am delighted that it has come through so quickly. The optician wrote a letter saying that there could be signs of early pappilloedema, so maybe that has brought the appointment forward. It can't come soon enough as my daughter really does not improve. She caught a cold last week and it was very clear that she could hardly cope - I very nearly took her to A & E! Unfortunately the blood tests did not get done - no wonder they were taking so long to come in! All being well, they will take more blood this week. Wish us luck - is there anything that you would advise me to take/do/say? Thank you. Best wishes,
Guest guest
Great news, . All fingers, toes and my dogs paws crossed for tomorrow then Unfortunately the blood tests did not get done - no wonder they were taking solong to come in! All being well, they will take more blood this week. Arrrrghh .... I am hoping that the endo will see to it that they will be done now – and as a full thyroid panel including TSH, FT4, FT3 and autoantibodies TPO and TgAB. – she will probably give you a blood-form for the lab ... please look at it and make sure the FT3 and Antibodies are both ticked. If it just says TFT (thyroid function test), the lab will only do a TSH and if you are lucky an FT4. She may need to specifically request the FT3 to be done - and the antibodies too. Have a list ready with all of your daughter's symptoms as well as the adrenal profile and everything else you have got. It is easy for the mind to go blank when in the surgery – mine does frequently. And it is important not to be intimidated by anything that the endo will say or do. Be confident and stick to your line that this has gone on long enough and you have been palmed off with silly and unwarranted comments about your daughter being `unfit' and all the rest of it – you will no longer put up with that attitude. A good line to take is to say that you are extremely concerned and worried for your daughter and you are both at breaking point as your daughter's health is steadily declining – you can't go on like this and you need some answers. Best of luck for tomorrow – I will be thinking about you. And please let us all know how it went. Love,
