Hi Sheila, thanks for your comprehensive replie. I have now upped my magnesium, B12, iron and vit C and started on vit D. I will also get a candida test done. Do you think my GP is likely to do the vitamin and mineral tests? Hope I'm not being impatient but haven't noticed the list of doctors you mentioned in my in-box.

Thanks so much and warm wishes

Your endo. has no right to "wean you off thyroxine". If you have been given a diagnosis of hypothyroidism then you need to take thyroid hormone replacement for the rest of your life. You simply cannot be weaned off it. The idea of giving a patient with the symptoms of hypothyroidism thyroid hormone replacement is because their thyroid is not secreting sufficient thyroid hormone by their thyroid gland. The thyroid hormone replacement is given to bring down your TSH and to increase your levels of free T4 and free T3. Should he now stop giving you any, your TSH will start to rise again, your FT4 and FT3 levels will reduce and your thyroid symptoms and signs will return with a vengeance. Leave this endoprat and find yourself one who knows what he is doing as this one will only cause you harm.

Natural Thyroid Extract works better than levothyroxine for a lot of people because it contains all the natural thyroid hormone every cell in your body and brain needs to make them function. It contains T4, T3, T2, T1 plus calcitonin and other unspecified enzymes.

Go to our FILES section accessible from the Home Page of this forum's web site http://health.gorups./group.thyroid treatment and click on FILES in the Menu - and on the page that opens, click on the folder entitled 'Natural Thyroid Extract' and read all the information you can. Check out the list of doctors I will be sending to you privately who will prescribe using T3, (the active thyroid hormone) either synthetic, in combination with thyroxine, T3 on it's own, or natural thyroid extract.

In the FILES section you can check out the folder entitled 'Internet Pharmacies' that shows where you can buy thyroid extract - all these Internet Pharmacies are "safe" places to go and you do not need a prescription. However, read, read and read yet again everything about natural thyroid extract, everything about testing and treating possible adrenal fatigue, systemic candidiasis, mercury poisoning, levels of ferritin, B12, D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc - because if any of these are low in the range, and left untreated, it will matter not how much thyroid hormone replacement you are taking, because it will be unable to be fully utilised by the cells. These MUST be checked for and treated first.

Luv - Sheila

I have been on thyroxine since May 2010 100mcg since Sept. TSH at the start was only a little raised and T4 low normal. Even so I was confined to bed and was looked after by my husband. Now my TSH is suppresed T4 and T3 low normal. Endo wants to "ween me off" thyroxine. Have seen a doc in London and waiting for test results for RT3, salivary adrenal, urine T3/T4 and vitamin D. I havent got a good feeling about this doc in London. Think he relies on bloods and not symptoms to proscribe. Just like the endo. Has anyone self medicated with T3/Armour? What are the risks? Where is a safe place to get it? Apologes if spelling wrong but cant think clearly these days. .
