Guest guest
Hi , It can get complicated working out a dosing schedule! some folk do feel better taking a larger dose of thyroid meds first thing, then she could take the iron with lunch, and another dose of thyroid later, with iron last thing, because I can't see otherwise how the spacing will work, twice a day for both would though. Life is complicated isn't it! Remind me- is Nutri thyroid a supplement or is is a thyroid replacement like Armour? > thyroid treatment > From: valerie@...> Date: Thu, 6 Jan 2011 17:44:55 +0000> Subject: Nutri Thyroid,NAX and iron.> > My daughter (adrenal fatigue, hypothyroid) and I went to see Dr.P a couple of days ago.She has been on Nax for just over 3 weeks plus other supplements suggested by Sheila plus iron Ferrous Fumerate 3 times a day. Now we are not sure if the Nutri Thyroid should be taken preferably 4 hours away from the iron or if Nutri Thyroid can be taken with iron. Also if the Nutri Thyroid can't be taken with the iron then can the two daily Nutri Thyroids be taken together in the morning as the iron tabs are 3 a day or are the Nutri Thyroids better divided throughout the day?> Another question, Dr.P said that my symptoms suggest that I also probably have adrenal fatigue (I have Hashimotos and am on 100mcg Levothyroxine). He advised me to start Nax and at the same time stop Thyroxine for a week then restart on 50mcg thyroxine. I'm not sure if I should stay on 50mcg thyroxine whilst I am taking Nutri Thyroid or if I should work up to 100mcg again and how and when. If anybody can help me I should be grateful as I don't want to keep bothering Dr P.> Many thanks....> > > > ------------------------------------> > TPA is not medically qualified. It is " thyroid glandular hormone free " prescribed by Dr.P for 6weeks to see how she gets on and to give her adrenals time to improve before starting on Armour or thyroxine or whatever Dr.P deems necessary.... > > TPA is not medically qualified. Guest guest
Hello - yes, the Nutri Thyroid and any other form of thyroid hormone should be taken 4 hours away from any medication containing iron or calcium. She can take the two Nutri Thyroid's together in the morning and then she can take her Ferrous Fumerate with lunch, another one with her tea and another with supper just before she goes to bed. It is only medication that contains the active thyroid hormone T3 that we recommend splitting the dose either twice or three times daily. What we usually recommend when starting to treat adrenals is that you stop all thyroid hormone replacement and the next day, start taking your Nutri Adrenal Extra and leave off the T4 for a week. On Day 8, add back the 100mcgs levothyroxine but add another tablet of Nutri Adrenal Extra taking one tablet with breakfast and another tablet with lunch (never take any NAE after 1.00p.m. because it might keep you awake when you go to bed). After another week to 10 days, you can try another NAE with breakfast. You can increase it in this way until you start to feel the benefits. Many people do well on just 1 tablet or 2 and others need 3 or 4 - but if you find you need 6 tablets, this is usually an indication you may need a short course of hydrocortisone - but often people do really well on NAE. You should take high doses of vitamin C (4/5000mgs daily) when treating your adrenals, which helps the NAE get properly absorbed.
