Guest guest
Hello We I had cataract surgery a while back, I had to have additional platelet infusion before the procedure but all went well I had one eye done and the following week the other eye done. I had not be able to see without glasses for well over 35 years and now I can see like a teenager all except for small print which I bought the dollar store glasses and they work fine..I have low ANC but no infections at all so I am more than happy.. Guest guest
Unfortunately I don't have any information about Gleevec and lasik eye surgery but if I was looking into it, I would bring the following article to the doctor who is doing the procedure and ask him if the procedure could cause further problems IF Gleevec were to cause any of these issues. http://www.liebertonline.com/doi/abs/10.1089/108076803322279426 From the little bit that I know (which isn't much), I would think that the PRK might be safer than the Lasik procedure. It's something you may also want to ask about. Good luck, Tracey

Guest guest
All, Thanks for the responses. Esther, I did receive a response back from Dr. Druker, he said that there is no impact on the ability to heal from the immune standpoint. His only concern was if there was fluid retention around the eyes (which I don't have), he classified this as minor and suggested to be safe just to hold the IM for a couple of days before and after the procedure. I still haven't heard back from the other Dr. I asked but it was great to get such a quick response from him. I have my consult with the laser eye center on Friday, I am also looking at the Interlase (bladeless) procedure, this seems to be the more accurrate of procedures and fastest healing, although a bit more pricey. Thanks.

Let us know when you do it and a blow by blow discription,{ha ha}. Maybe that will make it easier. Did you go to more than one opthomalogist? some don " t do the intralase. Good luck i hope everything goes real easy for you. Esther
