Guest guest
I used to take my Levothroxine first thing in the morning (an hour before breakfast) but I noticed some Endo's seem to be suggesting to patients that they should try taking it last thing at night if they feel it isn't working for them. I also saw a file in the resources of this forum indicating the same thing...but this file may be out of date...? Anyway, I have been taking Levothyroxine at night since the 3rd of March (two & a half weeks now) & I think I do not feel better yet, in fact I feel worse (but it could be other things at play such as adrenals rather than this change). Often patients find taking their levothyroxine at night both helps them get a better nights sleep and often they wake more refreshed in a morning and feel better throughout the day. There has been a couple of small trials done and now many doctors are advising their patients to give this a trial. levothyroxine appears to be better absorbed at night, but you should have no food or drink at least an hour before taking it. Spatone at 1 sachet a day would not be sufficient - that is the daily recommended dose. Your Ferritin level of 27 is extremely low and you would be better off taking at least 2 sachets daily together with 4/5000mgs vitamin C. it is vital you take this vitamin C to help with the iron absorption. NOTE: Do NOT take any form of iron anywhere near to thyroid hormone replacement - take at least four hours away from each other. Guest guest
Hi Kerry It is strange but I switched to taking levothyroxine at night and it seemed to help my sleep. I went wheat free before Christmas for a few reasons and felt much better for it but my sleep was very disturbed again. (it had never been great at the best of times ) I have stopped taking the thyroxine at night again now and my sleep has rather improved?? Thankfully! I got my iron levels up towards the top of the range with Spatone (they were lower than yours) so give it a try. Luv Stephie Ferritin levels are 27. The alternative suggestion would be to take an elemental iron such as Ferrous Sulphate but as I understand it, Spatone is more gentle on the tummy. > > Thanks for your help, I don't know what I'd have done if I hadn't found this forum! > > Kerry x >
