Guest guest
It is always better in such cases to send a letter to your GP with a copy to the Head of Practice asking for the letter of request to be placed into your medical notes. Tell him that your ferritin level is too low at 30, when it should be somewhere in the region of 70 to 90 and that you know thyroid hormone cannot be properly utilised at cellular level if this is too low. Tell him also that you would like to be tested specifically to check your levels of vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc as like ferritin, if any of these are also low in the range again, no amount of thyroid hormone is going to work for you. Send him a copy of the attached document so he can read about the connection between low ferritin and hypothyroidism. Tell him that as you are unable to tolerate any form of oral iron, you would like a course of IV iron. See if that helps. Luv - Sheila Hi everyone I believe I need iv iron, but can't get it on the nhs coz my ferritin isn't low enough and I'm only borderline anameic, so the docs locally just won't entertain the idea. I think I need it because no matter what type of iron I take (with vit c etc) my ferritin remains low (it was 30 at last count), probably due to me being coeliac, so I'll never absorb iron well. My body doesn't seem to be able to use the t3 very well, so I keep ending up toxic, and I think this is probably due to the low ferrtin, so I need to sort it out. _,_._,___ 1 of 1 File(s) Ferritin.doc
