Guest guest
Hi Tess Just putting your message forward > Just a suggestion -Have you tried reducing T4 (I think the RT3 stopped the T3 working properly ] I am on 110T3 and have given up on the T4 . I am glad I am not the only one making waves . Best wishes
Guest guest
Hi Tess, I wonder if here the problem is our old friend RT3? If all that T4 is converting to RT3 and blocking the receptors then the T3 you are taking just won't do any good.I wonder what urinary levels of T3 are- it must be going somewhere, but after your hyper then you may be desensitised to T3 and need high levels anyway- but normal ones would be a good start! I have never had bloods out of range desptie taking 3 grain Armour ( 114T4 and 27T3) plus 80mcg T3. My tests show 0.01 TSH ( to be expected) 18 FT4 and 6.2 FT3 and this is with a healthy bowel ( I've seen the pics to prove it!) I wonder if trying T3 alone may help- though as Nick says it takes the T3 receptors 3 months or so to clear this won't be an overnight solution. Note that I feel really rotten with equivalent T4/T3 doses compared to Armour + T3 but I don't know why. I feel fine on T3 alone. thyroid treatment From: tessfleming@...Date: Fri, 7 Jan 2011 17:04:18 +0000Subject: Increasing meds-decreasing levels, utterly fed up and copy of endo's take on it Hi Folks,My levels have fell consistently since May despite increasing meds, now on 150/200 T4, and 100/120 T3.May JuneTSH 0.11, FT4 15, TT3 2.4, TSH 0.001, T4 9 (9-21) TT3/FT3 ?? meds increased here but check the fall in TSH again!AugTSH 0.001, T4 13 TT3 2 Since then consistent decrease in levels. Now TSH 0.001 T4 9 TT3 1.4(might be slightly off with T3 one, can't be bothered to go check...it's low though!)Positive TRab result of 10 using new ranges in Nov/Dec.Should point out here, bowel surgeon has ruled out bowel absorption as I'm on liquid and taking T3 under tongue (when I remember).Any thoughts anyone?Love Tess
Guest guest
Hi Tess I stopped taking T4 (125mcg) and am on T3 only now. Although only on a small dose of 62.5mcg T3, I am increasing it weekly whilst measuring my metablolic temperature as per Dr Rind http://www.drrind.com/therapies/metabolic-temperature-graph#directions and also taking my basal (waking) temperature each morning. I am already feeling much better although have a long way to go because of untreated adrenals. http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/adrenals.htm You may want to browse through Nick's site: http://thyroid-rt3.com/temperat.htm and also read these articles: http://www.tpa-uk.org.uk/thyroid_adrenal_dysfunction.pdf http://www.holtorfmed.com/index.php?section=downloads & file_id=12 Love Jacquie > > Hi Folks, > My levels have fell consistently since May despite increasing meds, now > on 150/200 T4, and 100/120 T3.May > JuneTSH 0.11, FT4 15, TT3 2.4, TSH 0.001, T4 9 (9-21) TT3/FT3 ?? meds > increased here but check the fall in TSH again! **************old message removed by moderator*******************
Guest guest
Hi everyone and thanks for comments, sorry just getting back - got that horrid flu! I tried cutting back on T4 months ago but felt worse, temps were low then too but broke thermometer so don't know about now. I started increasing T4 again more in desperation than anything else. Also feeling a bit stupid now because last results were from a 24 hr urine test which was primarily for Cortisol and I was thinking - how the hell can hey test thyroid from urine!! The RT3 thing...I've looked at Nick's site and I thought you got that from too much T4 which could then convert to RT3 rather FT3....Is that right?? I've never ever had a high T4 - even Thyroid storm with FT3 of 53 T4 was 22.? The best I ever felt was FT4 22 and FT3 7.1 but I can't get anywhere near that, I am going to get all the other tests done - don't think the constant antibiotics can be helping much. Have I picked up the RT3 thing right or can it happen without high T4? Love Tess >
Guest guest
Hi Tess I think it took a while to get rid of the RT3 and the T3 didn't work properly until it was gone . I think 200T4 is too high a dose without getting RT3 for a lot of people . Tired on just T3 is I think adrenals - I take 4x25 T3 plus 10 at night . If I take 2x50 T4 it doesn't seem to work so well .{adrenals I think] .They really seem not to know what they are doing -When this happened to me I went straight to Dr P -who does know what he is doing !!!!! Guest guest
Hi , Thanks again, not been doing the 200 for long, thyroid - s arrived this morning so will stop the T4 and go with the ndt and see how that goes. I just found this on one of the Graves sites....this was my first suspicion, need to look more into it though. " If the TSI are continuing to drop, then that would mean you need bigger doses of Levothyroxine. If blocking TRab have increased during that time (which could be, since your TSH is vanishing) then you'd need even higher doses to make this up. " That makes more sense to me than RT3 because I've never had high T4........there's high doses but surely not as high as I'm taking lol Thanks again :-) Love Tess > > >>
