Guest guest
HI PAT This complicates things for me, could a Doctor tell by seeing a photo of my Mothers neck and scar if she had TB or a goiter removed. From what you say Hashis or graves can be passed down from either the Mother or Father to a Daughter or a son. I suppose if both Mother and Father have an autoimmune thyroid problem its more likely that all their children will inherit it. I still do not know why I am better off without thyroxine, than when taking it, and if it will last. Would you continue without thyroxine until you had symptoms again. Guest guest
Hi Glynis I could see that my Father had similarities to me, but none on his side had been diagnosed with thyroid problems. All I was told that there was a nervous skin condition in the family on my Fathers side thought to be psoriasis, but another member has had it diagnosed as ICHYIOTHOSIS, which I have found can relate to thyroid problems, but again not diagnosed with thyroid due to his smoking consealing diagnoses. I could see how abnormalities could come about from my Mother, due to her not being treated for a thyroid problem that would have been caused by her surgery for TB of her neck. She would have been short of thyroxine during pregnancies in turn affecting a babies development. We must be getting a lot of genetic problems come about now due to how the population has increased in other words we must be getting more related to one another,in turn more genetic faults appear, plus the effects of polution etc. Kathleen > > I'm b*****d as my mother and father were second cousins which means that I've inherited angina and hypo from my mothers' side (my moms sisters had it) and hypo from my dads side, (my dads' sisters have it)plus osteo arthritis in my hands, back and knees, poor eyesight and high blood pressure!! > > Glynis > > >
