Guest guest
Niacin is very well known to lift depression and I sent links to the group about this some time ago. This is a natural vitamin (vitamin B3) that many of us are short of B2. Read http://www.doctoryourself.com/niacin.html and also here http://www.doctoryourself.com/hoffer_niacin.html and here http://www.livestrong.com/article/70023-niacin-benefits-depression/ Luv - Sheila Has anyone had any success taking Niacin to combat depression and anxiety? Guest guest
Hi Joanne,Very interesting that you asked that. I recently started using niacin as a mood lifter after discovering quite by accident that it works! I spoke with a doctor who told me that the positive lift you feel after taking the niacin is from the body's reaction to the flush. I dissolve a 500 mg. capsule of niacin in a glass of juice. I sip a little at a time until I feel a slight flush coming and then stop until it passes. This is best as taking a full 500 mg. capsule at one time can really burn you up! Don't take the niacin within 1 hour of having to be outside in the sun as your skin will be very sensitive to it. If I don't feel I need a second flush to feel better I just save the niacin juice to use the next day and it will still be effective. I feel better with this "niacin high". It both lifts my mood and relieves anxiety. It's not an "end-all-cure-all but I do feel better. I read not to take more than 500 mg. per day of it over an extended period of time. Niacin is also very inexpensive so it is worth a try!Let me know how it goes.Cheryl From: Joanne Owen <owen.joanne@...>Subject: Re: Niacin for depressionthyroid treatment Date: Wednesday, February 16, 2011, 10:41 AM Has anyone had any success taking Niacin to combat depression and anxiety? I'm going to give it a try and yes it is relatively cheap. At the moment I'm willing to give anything a try. I've read about the flushes and compared to how rubbish I feel, they will be the least of my problems! Thanks again and I'll let you know how I go on.Best Wishes JO Cheryl From: Joanne Owen <owen.joanne@...>Subject: Re: Niacin for depressionthyroid treatment Date: Wednesday, February 16, 2011, 10:41 AM Has anyone had any success taking Niacin to combat depression and anxiety?
