Guest guest
Please don't be persuaded to start any statins Helen. They can cause more long term problems and your high cholesterol can be controlled more naturally by using high dose CoEnzymeQ10 (say 300mgs) and also high dose Niacin (vitamin B3) say 350mgs). Also, many people have found Mukta Viti helps enormously in lowering cholesterol and I can highly recommend them after my husband's success with them. However, I have just checked out their web site to send you a link where to buy it and found the following News Flash http://www.muktavati.com/ . Your Serum cortisol is low in the range and your DHEA is below the range. You would probably benefit by taking a course of Nutri Adrenal Extra (see the DISCOUNT file for TPA members). Your free T3 should be in the upper third of the reference range and yours is in the lower third and your free T4 should be above the middle of the range (if not on thyroid hormone replacement) and in the upper third of the reference range if you are on thyroid hormone replacement, and yours is way below this. Do you know if they tested you to see if you had thyroid antibodies. If not, I would ask for this to be done. Perhaps they didn't have enough blood to test your copper and zinc as these require a lot of blood. Luv - Sheila Serum cortisol 252 ( 150-650) Serum DHEA lev 0.5umol/L (1.0-12.0) *Serum urea 9.5mmol/L ( 2.5-7.5) *ESR 18 (3-15) Serum TSH 1.4 ( 0.30-5.00) serum free T3 4.5 ( 3.0-7.1) serum free T4 12.9 (10.4-24.5) __

Can Ferrous Sulphate/Fumerate 200mgs taken twice daily be taken with any other Iron med, like Ferranate ferrous gluconate 300 mg or are they the same type of iron tablet. ? As the latter is what my GP gave me this morning. He also gave me vit B12 supplement Cyanocobalamin 50mcg. Which I think is to little ? Guest guest
If you are taking Ferranate Ferrous Gluconate 300mgs then you don't need to take Ferrous Sulphate. Just eat foods high in iron, take your tablets with food and take high doses of vitamin C (to bowel tolerance) to help with absorption and to stop constipation, which iron can cause. Also do not take any form of iron (or calcium) anywhere near to thyroid medication. You need to take it at least 4 hours apart. As far as Vitamin B12 supplementation is concerned, 50mcgs seems a small dose. We always recommend that for anybody with a B12 deficiency, they take at least 1000mcgs and the sublingual B12. In order to absorb vitamin B 12, a person needs the " intrinsic factor " in their stomach. This 'factor' is made in the stomach. Basically, the intrinsic factor allows your body to absorb vitamin B 12 and without it, even if you eat foods that are rich in vitamin B 12, you can still develop a deficiency. For some people who have a pernicious anaemia and a very low level of B12, this can be administered by injection which must be continued every three weeks, often for the rest of life. This method of vitamin administration ensures that it is delivered directly into the blood and bypasses the stomach where the intrinsic factor is insufficient or missing. Taking B12 1000mcgs sublingually means the B12 is absorbed directly into the blood. You may be interested to know that one 'exceptional' food is calves liver (one pound per day - UGH!) which is so high in vitamin B 12 that even people who lack the intrinsic factor absorbed enough vitamin B 12 to prevent pernicious anaemia Luv - Sheila Hi Sheila Thank You so very much for your reply and support you give us all .
