Guest guest
So, I've had enough! I just cant be my own Dr anymore. Can anyone recommend a GOOD DR who actually KNOWS anything? I just want someone to run all the tests and tell me if I'm ok, or if not what to do!! ITs too confusing - there are too many things that I may have! I feel totally fine. But I am tired of having to do so much exercise, and I just want to be able to eat the occassional slice of cake without gaining 1kg! Is this just it? Having a slow metabolism is what we will always have no matter what meds? And I'm only 31. By the time I'm 40 I will have to exist on 400 cals a day just to maintain my weight at this rate! Very fed up ( Suzanne
Guest guest
Hi Suzanne,I know of a great doctor in L.A. that specializes in thyroid problems and that helped me a lot. Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, i feel in a very similar position to you. I go to the gym at least 3 times a week, am always running round after my kids and still can only eat 1000 - 1200 calories a day or i will put weight on! i am also excessivley tired and have muscle pains and flushing but because my TSH is within range the Dr is not interested. I am at the end of my tether with it but cannot afford to go private at the moment so feel am left with very little options. i have considered just upping my dose myself against my drs advice but am wary as he now says he will not give me another blood test for a year so it would be a long time to go unmonitored? Let me know how you get on. Sian > > So, I've had enough! > > I just cant be my own Dr anymore. Can anyone recommend a GOOD DR who actually KNOWS anything? Guest guest
Hi, I would agree with Stacey. I've been taking T3 since last December on the recommendation of Dr. P. and for the last two and a half weeks I've been eating a paleo diet, i.e. no carbs, starches and reduced sugar. I've not found it difficult, I eat as much as I want of proteins, vegs, salads, etc. and I've lost 8lbs so far, which is amazing for me. I've tried every diet going in the past and lost nothing. I've been working with Dr. P. for over 18 months now and I can see that my metabolism is now beginning to work properly again. I have an autoimmune disorder of my thyroid, like my older sister who has been on thyroxine for about 30 years and is now about 18 stone, poor woman. Don't lose heart, keep trying to make your self well with advice and guidance wherever you can find it - like here! Good luck! Dee. > What I do know though is when you are optimally medicated the weight can start to come off as your metabolism gets more efficient. > > Maybe you could try leaving out certain food like sugars and starches and eat lean proteins, fruit and veg - use natural plant based swettener like Stevia. Have a look at the Paleo Diet. You should not have to live on crumbs the rest of your life just to keep the weight off.
