Guest guest
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease/Hypothyroidism about 12 years ago and have been taking Levothyroxine ever since. After a routine blood test in November 2010 I was advised to up my dosage to 150mcg. I then had a follow up blood test in January and told to go back to 100mcg. Since having my second child 7 years ago I have felt generally tired, have suffered from repeated infections, I am constipated, suffer from hair loss and itchy skin. I have seen various Dr's to discuss these symptoms. My thyroid is checked and told to be normal. I have given up asking for blood tests but when this routine test came back with a need to change my dosage I thought that at last my concerns about these persistent symptoms would be taken seriously. However, in discussing these resent results with yet another Dr I was told that because I was being treated for an under active thyroid I shouldn't be experiencing any symptoms and that anything I was feeling must be related to something else. Could someone please advise me? Is this true? Is it just my ignorance that makes me think that changes in my thyroid levels will effect how I feel and accompanying symptoms?
