Guest guest
Hi all, I have been to receive the results of my latest SST test taken on the 22/2/11. Although the ACTH was taken on the 7/3/11 as they forgot to take it on the 22/2/11 - cortisol was also taken then too (9am). 22/2/11 on 15mg hydrocortisone Cortisol 0 mins - 350 30 mins - 431 60 mins - 490 DHEAS result not back yet Testosterone < 0.1 nmol/L TSH - 6.0 (0.3 - 5.5) T4 - 8.2 (12 - 22) Adrenal antibodies - Negative 7/3/11 9am Cortisol 284 ACTH 13.7 ng/L My first SST was taken on the 15/11/10 on 20mg hydrocortisone. My Endo wants me to reduce to 12.5mg of hydrocortisone and retake the test at end of July to see if my adrenals can recover. As my SST test results are better than last time he sees this as a good thing although I feel absolutley dreadful he wants me to do this and although I have agreed I feel very dubious about what this will show. I do feel confused by this and he says he doesnt really know what is going on because I started the hydrocortisone before having an SST test and he doesnt know what my levels were prior to me taking hydrocortisone therefore he cant give me a diagnosis. He says its not s but I asked him if he thought it is Secondary Adrenal Insufficiency and he said it could be or that I am Steriod Dependant. My DHEA (from last time),and Testosterone are very low and Im wondering if there is any value in taking either of these or both? I am in menopause as had a hysterectomy in 2003 and a thyroid nodule removed in 1995. I dont take any HRT and never have. I already take thyroid medication but had to lower it (from 35mch T3 to 15mcg T3),when I reduced the hydrocortisone otherwise I get angina type chest pains and go hyperthyroid. Any advice (please!) would be very gratefully received. kind regards
