Guest guest
Thanks for the time you've taken to reply to all my posts - just wanted to update you as to how I got on. I wont go into all that was said but basically, because my bloods were in the labs opinion 'normal' range & I hadn't been in to see her to complain about symptoms she assumed that everything was well & she only increases medication if the patient has symptoms. She was surprised that I had never felt completely well & offered to send me to an Endo. I suggested that we get my TSH to at least 1, my ft4 at the higher end & if I still have symptoms then I will go see the Endo. If things don't improve with him then I'll do a trial period of NDT which she has never heard of & I don't think she will prescribe but she wasn't opposed to me trying it via clinic in Belfast. So in 6 weeks I get retested & Levo increased each time until 1. She did emphasise she's a GP not a specialist in the subject which was rather humble I thought. Lesson for me was - make sure the GP knows how you feel & don't assume just because you phone & get a blood test done that the GP automatically knows how you're feeling - I assumed that because I asked for the tests to be done, she would know I wasn't feeling well & was refusing to up my levo.
