Guest guest
Hello again I wrote before about left bundle branch block (LBBB) which is where the electrical function of the heart fails on the left side so my heart only receives the stimulus to beat from the right side. I have a complete block which means I am in big trouble if the right side goes. :-( Normally LBBB is indicative of serious heart disease. I had all the tests which said that apart from LBBB my heart was fine, and the consultant said I must have been one of the few people born with it. Recently I found evidence that proved that I did not have LBBB when I was 27. Apparently it is VERY RARE for anyone to develop LBBB WITHOUT serious heart disease. My GP said that electrical malfunctions of the heart can be linked to thyroiditis and when searching thyrotoxicosis seems to come up a lot. The LBBB was found in 2004 - a year after starting T4 only treatment whilst my tests were normal. I had been having minor chest pains but no palpitations. I think I was on 200mcg T4 at the time. I am now on T3/HC only. I really want to get to the bottom of the cause. Was it because I went so long untreated or because I took too much T4 trying to get my symptoms to reduce? My hypo symptoms reduced every time my regime changed and I never noticed any difference when I stopped the T4 completely. Is the heart effected when hypo or just hyper? Before I got treatment, I had had constant hypo symptoms for some years. From my late 20s until starting treatment at 40 I had been ill and got somewhat better, then ill again and so on and so on until I never seemed to get better and then I started treatment despite normal test results. The only hyper symptom I could lay claim to was at times of great distress I lost weight rapidly two or three times in my life - I always considered this to be the silver lining :-)!! Any help gratefully received, thanks in advance, Louise
