Guest guest
I don't want to set off any alarm or despondency, but does anybody know if the rumours I am hearing are correct, in that the FDA are suing Forest Pharmaceuticals over certain misdemeanours concerning certain drugs they manufactured and that Forest have stopped making their brand name 'Armour' Thyroid. I keep hearing a little about this from different quarters but can't seem to piece much together. Last night my sister phoned me to say she had been sitting in her doctors waiting room and chatting with a lady who's doctor was prescribing Armour Thyroid to her for the first time (my sister gets her Armour by NHS prescription from this same doctor). However, when this new lady took it to her local Pharmacy (the same one my sister goes to), the pharmacist told her they could not get Armour as it was no longer available. They said they had tried to source this using both Idis World Medicines and Pharmarama. If you know more about this, please let me know. My sister told this doctor about our web site and last night he was looking through it to find out more about the other different brands available which could be prescribed by the NHS, i.e. Erfa Thyroid, Nature Throid and Westhroid - all of which the MHRA have sent letters to me saying that doctors can prescribe these if their patients don't do well on synthetic Thyroxine (T4)-only, but that doctors take full responsibility for this as their medical insurance does not cover them should anything go wrong because natural thyroid extract remains unlicensed in the UK.
