Guest guest
HI ALL Having been without thyroxine for a fortnight, plus having an injection last week for the pain I have been in. I have now resumed some carpentary (I am making a lighter weight ramp for my mobility scooter). Should I be feeling like this without thyroxine, and is it good to excercise my right arm with sawing some wood, as the injection was put in my right shoulder. Is it likely to last, and if you felt more active would you have a steroid tablet if ask to by your GP. I do not want to be made to feel worse with having steroids. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, http://www.jbc.org/content/early/2011/01/12/jbc.M110.164558?papetoc= It looks like Steroids re-programme stem cells and maybe add more fat cells. Even so, that may imply steroids can do good by re-programming stem cells for other uses.... Circadian rhythm gene period 3 is an inhibitor of the adipocyte cell fate. Guest guest
BOB this is a bit hard to understand (this article), but I do not want to end up with too many fat cells and end up at 17stone again. I have lost a little weight, but its not on, going up to a whopping 17stone. Guest guest
Thyroxine doesn't completely leave your body for about 6 weeks Kathleen, so you obviously still have some petrol in the tank! If you are capable of sawing wood with your right arm, I should imagine that would do nothing but good for your shoulder and should help it get better in the long run - though you might feel a pull on the old muscles tonight. I would follow your GP's instruction for the time being and see how you get on. It would be a shame if you decided not to take the tablet and found tomorrow you were back in pain again. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, My physio wants me to have steroid injections again in shoulder because I can't exercise it properly just now - it's too inflamed and painful so I'd say it'll do you more good than harm to get it moving again :-) I used to get the injections in wrists and elbows too and the effect could last for months, pain always got a bit worse for a few days after injection but after that It was great and I could do anything. Do you mean a steroid tablet for your arm or something else? If it's your arm - injection will last a good few months and if it gets bad again you can just get another one done. Think they can give around 3 injections a year and they have a lot less side effects than oral steroids. Glad you're feeling better and getting your DIY done :-) Love Tess > > HI ALL > Having been without thyroxine for a fortnight, plus having an injection last week for the pain I have been in.
