Guest guest
Hi, No the paper you're looking for is there ok in the files... why don't you go to the files section of this forum and scrolldown till you see it...... thyroid treatment/files/ Whilst you're there, have a look at the folder: thyroid references, there's a press release in there from the society for endocrinology which shows that low TSH is fine... If you haven't told the docs you are self treating, you could just play dumb when they mention the tsh.... or , I recently was faced with a bit of a debate about tsh and I immediately replied with a list of hyperthyroid symptoms, and said I didn't have any of them so I'm not hyper. They never argued. Whenever the doc springs a surprise test on you, you can always say no, you'll make an appointment for a few days time. There is no obligation for you to give them blood just because they ask. I was once in the chair with my sleeve rolled up but I refused to give them blood when I realised they weren't doing the correct tests x > > Hi > > I'm trying to access the above document but keeping getting told that internet explorer can't find the page. Guest guest
Hi Thanks for your reply. I still can't open the file, still get the message that internet explorer can't find the web page. No idea why. I'll keep your advice in mind about asking to leave the blood test for a few days and I will ask him to list the symptoms of hyperthroidism. Because of the ruptured aneurysm (which caused a brain stem stroke)they keep a very close eye on me but have never tested my TSH since the bleed.I was taking NDT but things changed after my illness and last year I changed to T3 only. But recently I've been coming out in strange bruises on my arms and legs and I believe that's a side affect of one of the meds they have me on. When your liver is low functioning that can happen and I'm also suffering from low level fatigue, another symptom of low liver enzymes, I beleive. I just don't want them to interfere with my thyroid because they don't know what they're doing!I keep very well, am back at work and people who didn't know me before the bleed have no idea what I've been through and that's because my thyroid is kept healthy! Thanks again . xx
Guest guest
Scroll right down in the FILES section to the File 'TSH - what effects the level of TSH' and open that folder. On the Page that opens, you will see the file you are looking for. Let me know if you have a problem? Luv - Sheila Hi I'm trying to access the above document but keeping getting told that internet explorer can't find the page. Am I doing something wrong? I have been self treating myself for a few years and am very well and haven't told my GP. In February 2009 I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm which caused a subarachnoid haemorrhage. I take T3 only which keeps me very well and the medics keep telling me what a miracle I am to have recovered so well. No miracle, I treat my thyroid! But I have to have regular checks with my GP for BP etc and on Monday past I saw one of the newer GPs and he took some blood which I wasn't expecting! I had taken my thryoid meds and hour before this test!! I phoned today for the results and she said the GP wants to speak with me about my TSH. I've avoided speaking with him. I know they will be freaking out about my TSH but what I need to know is, if I stop taking my meds from tomorrow will my TSH be a bit higher by Monday, as I assume they will catch me then and want more bloods. My TSH has always been very low. The last time it was 0.03 in the reference range of 0.03 to 5.5, this was quite a few years ago. As usual I was always told that it was fine even though I had loads of hypothyroid symptoms. Thank you.
Guest guest
Hi Sheila I'm unable to open any of the files in the folder: TSH ~ What affects the level of TSH Information about what affects the level of TSH e.g. T4 - T3 - medications etc I switched my firewall off incase that was stopping it but still came up " The couldnot be found " . I also had a go at opening some other files and can open them without any problem. Thanks for your help. Liz
