Guest guest
heaven help us! i had some blood taken today, and it was by a young doctor who hadn't specialised yet (you know you're getting old when drs start getting younger than you!). he was from south africa. he was taking blood and i noted some of the phials seemed half full. i said to him " are you going to fill the phials up - some are half full " . i didn't say it unkindly, but he was a bit put out by this, he said i'm doing my best and mentioned my veins weren't very good. he then looked and said only a couple are half full, and he filled them up properly. I clarified i was just concerned there wouldn't be enough to test and wasn't trying to be funny or critical. I don't think he was that confident. he was actually quite pleasant though, asking me why i was having these tests done privately, and seemed genuinely concerned when i said i had chronic fatigue and the nhs hadn't helped me and my life was going down the pan. he said " i'm sorry " when i said my life's going down the pan, and i thought he didn't understand the expression so was asking me to repeat/clarify, but no he actually said sorry to hear i was unwell. he wished me luck and said he hoped i got well soon and that the dr i was going to see helped me. he also said i didn't look unwell but said i don't doubt that you feel it. i'm 19st so i don't think i look the picture of health! anyway, thought i'd mention it, as it's a nice change (at least for me) to find a doctor who was sympathetic and actually quite nice. chris > > So i was talking to an old school friend on the weekend who is a trainee doctor, i told them i had thyroid problems and he said " thyroxine " and i was like noooo, im on T3 only. His repsonse " isnt that illegal " lol >
