Guest guest
Hannah, They are terrible results, no wonder you feel so bad..... Are you absolutely sure the short synathcen test was ok? Did the person conducting it know what they were doing? I would be looking at getting the results for yourself and checking them. The t3 will really test your adrenals, the rule is sort adrenals first, then the thyroid meds. You obviously need some adrenal support. My own results were no where like as bad as yours but I take HC and it's made a huge difference. Have you thought about getting some advice off the adrenals board? Val on there is very good. It's another group, here is the URL NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/?yguid=29924\ 5855 xx > > Any advice would be appreciated regarding these results. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply . They are indeed worrying results. It was the Endo who checked the Short Syn test I didn't actually see the results myself but he said they were fine. Would Nutri Adrenal Extract help this result? Do you self medicate with hydrocortisone? Han > > Hannah, > > They are terrible results, no wonder you feel so bad..... Are you absolutely sure the short synathcen test was ok? Guest guest
Hi Hannah Yes, I self medicate with HC. Have been doing so for about 18 months and I got my dosing schedule from the adrenals group. Nutri adrenal extra is very good for many but I dislike the stuff and was way too impatient for results. I still take nax but only 2 tablets. I just hate the taste, shape, smell, colour.... in fact I just hate them You should ask the endo for the test results.... . > > > Thanks for your reply . Guest guest
No wonder you have felt unwell with results such as these Han. one of the cortisol levels is within the reference range. These could well be the reason WHY you are unable to tolerate the T3 very well. Sample 1 should be at its highest in the reference range to help you get through your morning chores, and then it shoots right up four hours later almost to the top of the range, where it should be around the middle of the range, then right bang down it goes four hours later when it should be going towards the bottom of the range, but not outside it and the same at midnight. The short synacthen test doesn't test to see whether you have low adrenal reserve or not, it tests ONLY for 's or Cushing's. You need to start taking Nutri Adrenal Extra and building this up weekly until you find the dose your body needs. Go to our FILES section and click on the folder 'Discounts on Tests and Supplements' and click on 'Nutri Ltd' and follow the instructions there, giving a reference number to claim your 33% discount as a TPA member. Start by taking one tablet with breakfast and 7 days later, add another tablet with your lunch. Keep increasing this way until you find the dose where you start to feel better. You can take up to 6 Nutri Adrenal Extra daily if required, but any more than that is usually an indication you need a short course of HC. Also, get your iron levels checked. You say you have very low levels of Vitamin D - how much D3 are you taking? Luv - Sheila Any advice would be appreciated regarding these results. I have felt unwell for the past 6 mths, recently started on combination T4/T3, but not really able to tolerate the T3 very well, low temps, many hypo symptoms, especially shakey weak legs. From these results even I can see I have some adrenal problems. I had a short Syn test a couple of months ago , but of course it came back as normal. I take Vit C, selenium, Folic acid and B12 (as was low in range) I have very low levels of Vit D and take D3 supplemtnt. Thanks Han Sample 1 1.7 (12-22) Sample 2 8.0 (5.0-9.0) Sample 3 0.9 (3.0-7.0) Sample 4 0.1 (1.0-3.0) Total Daily Cortisol 10.7 (21-41) DHEA Mean 0.77 (0.20-0.70) DHEA Cortisol Ratio 7.15 (0.6-3.0) Thanks Han
Guest guest
If you are low in Vitamin D3 then no, 1000iu daily isn't sufficient. We have members who are taking Vitamin D who will be able to tell you what dose they are taking. I think it is more realistic to increase your levels by taking 5000iu daily. I'm afraid that the Dr P in question might not pay much attention to the salivary profile, but we will wait and see. Take with you the Genova Quality Assurance document attached so he cannot use the argument that " We know nothing about this laboratory " . Ask him why the NHS only do tests to see whether the patient is suffering with 's or Cushing's yet refuse to acknowledge any of the stages between the two. You don't SUDDENLY get 's or Cushing's overnight - we are talking about those 'stages' causing low adrenal reserve/adrenal fatigue and that this condition stops thyroid hormone from getting into the cells. Good luck Han. Luv - Sheila Thanks for Reply Sheila. You asked what Vit D I'm taking its Vit D3 1000iu daily - does that seem ok? I am thinking of emailing Dr R.P. my Endo(the one you know) my saliva results and request a meeting with him. i am due to see him prob in about 6 weeks to check how the T3 he prescribed is going. He will prob get a surprise to learn that I never got anywhere near the dose of 40mcgs daily that he prescribed! I hope that he takes notice of test results from Genova and prescribes me some HC.
