Guest guest
Hi Sandie - read the information here http://www.drlowe.com/jcl/comentry/breathingproblems.htm about breathing problems and symptoms of hypothyroidism. I hope this helps. Print it out and take a copy to your doctor! Luv - Sheila I started suffering from shortness of breath within a few hours of decreasing my liothyronine and in the 8 days since taking the lower dose this symptom seems to be worsening. This symptom is present all the time, even when sitting down or inactive; I feel like I can't open my lungs all the way. I'm also more tired and fall asleep earlier in the evenings, I have an increased aching in my legs when walking up the stairs in our house. I definitely feel worse now I'm on the lower dose and with a further proposed reduction in a week I'm getting worried. I only suffered shortness of breath on my previous levels if I did exercise. I told the doctor about my shortness of breath and she told me it was psychosomatic. I also take sertraline; I don't know I this has an affect on my thyroid. Can anyone advise on how to manage the breathlessness and if it is a known side affect when reducing the liothyronine? If I know these symptoms are normal 'withdrawal' side affects and wont last will make this easier to bear. Any opinions on why I felt ok when clinically hyper but I felt no obvious symptoms to indicate hyperthyroid? Thank you.
Guest guest
Hi Sheila Thanks for your advice. I had just found Dr Lowe's Q & A with that info on air hunger and will defo add that to the things I want to talk to the doctor about. I also read in another post that you said blood tests could be flawed if they were drawn on the same day meds were taken - is that the correct interpretation? I had my bloods taken less than 4 hours after taking my meds. If meds shouldn't be taken on the same day as bloods do you have a link or documentation you can point me to as further evidence to show my doctor? Lastly, are you please able to recommend any endos in Beds/Bucks/Herts area? I would be grateful for any help you can give. Thank you Sheila. x Hi Sandie - read the information here http://www.drlowe.com/jcl/comentry/breathingproblems.htm about breathing problems and symptoms of hypothyroidism. I hope this helps.
