Guest guest
Hi Dee, T3 of 9.3 is certainly out of range- did you take your T3 on the day of the test? if so then this result is wrong. But as you are suffering palpitations you may need to reduce your dose SLIGHTLY. A drop from 80mcg to 30mcg is drastic to say the least. Personally I would only decrease at the rate of 10mcg every 10days until you feel 'comfortable'. T4/T3 combos do suit some folk, but made me feel very peculiar on the same dose as Armour+ T3, but we do react to meds individually ,so you can only try it and see. You may find that supplementing magnesium may settle your heart. > thyroid treatment > From: deetwigg@...> Date: Thu, 10 Mar 2011 19:00:52 +0000> Subject: need reassurance please!!> > What have i done!!!> I have given into my endo and have agreed to cut down my t3 and add 100mgs t4 as my t3 was 9.2 and i have major problems with my eyes and palpitations and feeling so tired and not well after starting to feel better.> He wanted me to agree to just add 10mgs t3 i agreed but feel this is not enough do you think i could take 30mgs split into 3 doses and that may help as the 80mgs im on now i take in 3 doses.> I have started to lose a bit of the 8 stone i need to lose will this continue on this new regime?> I told him i would trial it for a month and i hope it does help me is the t3 t4 combination good?> Thankyou x> > > > > ------------------------------------> > TPA is not medically qualified. Guest guest
I don't want to worry you unduly D but I have seen endocrinologists and GP's persuade their patients to cut down on their T3 and add in more levothyroxine, only to find their symptoms came back with a vengeance and then, when they tried to get back onto the dose they were on before which had taken away most of their symptoms, they had great difficulty. Doctors seem completely unaware that thyroxine is a mainly INACTIVE thyroid prohormone that MUST convert to the ACTIVE thyroid hormone T3. It is T3 every cell in our body and brain needs to make them function, NOT thyroxine. For a large minority of us, we are unable to convert T4 into T3 for many and various reasons and if you are one of these people, increasing your T4 now and decreasing your T3 will produce symptoms of hypothyroidism yet again. YOU need to look after yourself and treat according to your symptoms because your doctor will NOT make you well by treating you to get 'normal' blood test results and a doctor has a duty to work with their patients and listen to their needs - so speak up and tell him/her that you are not happy to go down that road, and that you will titrate the medication according to your needs and that you need him/her to work with you. If you feel you would be better taking 10mcgs 3 times daily, then give it a try, and if you start to feel bad again, then you may need to increase by another 10mcgs T3 daily. Have you asked for your levels of ferritin, B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc to be tested to see whether any of these are low in the reference range. If they are, you need to supplement with whatever is low so that the thyroid hormone can get properly utilised at cellular level. Could you be suffering with low adrenal reserve? Is there a possibility you might have systemic candidiasis? It seems that you care more about not upsetting your endocrinologist than you do about your own health. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but this happens too often and I consider such doctors bullies. Luv - Sheila I have given into my endo and have agreed to cut down my t3 and add 100mgs t4 as my t3 was 9.2 and i have major problems with my eyes and palpitations and feeling so tired and not well after starting to feel better. He wanted me to agree to just add 10mgs t3 i agreed but feel this is not enough do you think i could take 30mgs split into 3 doses and that may help as the 80mgs im on now i take in 3 doses. I have started to lose a bit of the 8 stone i need to lose will this continue on this new regime? I told him i would trial it for a month and i hope it does help me is the t3 t4 combination good?
