Hi I have been borderline underactive for about 3 yrs under my GP but probably

a lot longer and have really bad symtoms, painful feet, joint aches, weight

gain, itchy dry skin, etc: etc:

I had been treating myself with NAX for my adrenals and this made me feel alot

better, I was also going to try treating myself with thyroxine but I went to a

different hosp. They said stop the NAX in January and to start taking 10mg

hydrocortisol. I've then had to wait for a long synacthen test and MRI for

pituitary gland, the results have just come back negative.

The results of test are basal cortisol was 209 and at 60 mins, it was 786. The

24 hr cortisol was 2229 nmol/L. This indicates I have no adrenal insufficiency.

ACTH is 15.7 ng/L. And my TSH is 7.88 and free T4 of 10.7. The hosp. as asked

my GP to give me Levothyroxine 25 mcg. And to stop the hydrocortisone.

I was previously taking 4 NAX a day and felt better taking these than the

hydrocortisone.

My questions are should I build up again with the NAX before taking the

Levothyroxine and when will I feel any difference in my symtoms when I start

taking thyroxine. Also my T4 of 10.7 does this sound o.k I'm not sure if its

high, low or average. I have read that Armour is better to take, would I be

better off trying to buy this. I would appreaciate any advice many thanks June
