Guest guest
Hello Suzy, Oh dear, you're going through the mill with a lot of silly doctors who should really know better. We've several people on this forum who have had thyroids removed and later had problems with meds. Hopefully some of them will comment later. It's pretty clear from the blood test you had that you aren't converting the T4 into t3 very efficiently. You may also be resistant to the effect of T3, as a result of the graves disease so will actually need more. Have a good look around the files on this forum, especially the thyroid references files, there are a couple of articles your doc should see about TSH levels thyroid treatment/files/THYROID%20REFE\ RENCES/ And there is information about Graves disease too. You need selenuim on a daily basis (200 mcg I think) to help with T4 to t3 conversion and you also need plenty of vitamin c.. Sheila has a list of Doctors and endocrinologists, so email her and request a copy.... Sounds like you will have a battle with your doctor, who sounds pretty stupid and uninformed, But others have regained their health and you can too! xx > > Hi, my name is Suzy. I was diagnosed with graves disease last year in october > ft4 12.4 range 7.5 to 21.0 > ft3 3.3 range 3.5 to 5.6 > tsh 0.04 range 0.34 to 5.6 > > Ive been to the doctor last week and asked about t3 replacement and was told to go away. Guest guest
Hi Suzy So Sorry you have had such a bad time, you will get help with us though dont worry. You need to get your iron tested as well, I had trouble getting up the stairs and my iron was V. low. I had bad palps on 100mcg of levothyroxine,it was making me toxic cos I was not converting it into what my body needed. I could tell a difference daily depending on how much I took and it should take 6 weeks for changes of medication to take effect. You might feel better on less from a palpitation point of view. Read up as much as you can in the files. I always say to get the best out of any doctor, take a note pad in with you and write things down, lets em know you mean business!! Luv Stephie S I love your name! > > Hi, my name is Suzy. I was diagnosed with graves disease last year in october although i had been suffering alot longer before being diagnosed. Found out i was allergic to carbimazole so they decided i either had rai or remove my whole thyroid straight away as i couldnt have no more medication. I opted for the total thyroidectomy which i had done on the 14th Jan this year. I was put om 100mcg levothyroxine and the hospital told me to take my calcium supplement at the same time. ( which i now realise you have to wait 4 hours >
