Guest guest
Hi Dorothy, Have a look in the forum files- there's one called' how to take natural dessicated thyroid' which tells you how to do it, starting at 1/2 grain. different NDT brands can have different efficacys on different folk- there's no real way to find which is best for you without trying. > thyroid treatment > From: dorothy.2004_874@...> Date: Wed, 9 Mar 2011 07:25:53 +0000> Subject: Buying NDT> > Are there any real differences between the different names? Guest guest
Hi Dorothy, about the best NDT (branded) appears to be the Erfa 'Thyroid' which is the Canadian Licensed NDT. If you go to the FILES section of this forum, scroll down until you see 'Internet Pharmacies' and open that and you will see a list of suppliers of synthetic T3 and natural thyroid extract. You can also try Thyroid-s, which is a different NDT which has more ingredients than other forms but it is cheaper than most. On the www.valuepharmacueticals.com web site, when ordering, click the little box where it says " no prescription Required " . How come you are on 50mcgs. Natural Thyroid Extract is in grains (the very old measure) or in 60mgs or 125mgs tablets. You should go to our FILES section again, and click on the folder Natural Thyroid Extract and then click on the one entitled 'How to Use Natural Thyroid Extract' and you will get all the information you need from there. You cannot do an equivalent with levothyroxine dose. Thyroxine is only one hormone (T4) and that is mainly inactive. It has to convert to the active thyroid hormone T3 through the liver, kidneys and other thyroid hormone receptors. NDT has T4, T3, T2, T1 and also calcitonin. Good luck, and keep in touch with us to let us know how things are going. Luv - Sheila Are there any real differences between the different names? I've almost put an order through online with 'value pharmacy' which is based in California - I put through everything except my credit card so it seems to let you buy without a prescription although you have to tick that you are under a practioner. I'm on 50mcg - should I start with 1/4 grain & build up to 1/2 or just start with 1/2 as that's approximately equal to 50 levo (I think). Was going to order them but still wait until I see my GP before taking them although I don't think she'll ok them. Dorothy
