Guest guest
Sorry Neil, I know of nobody else - just shows that when there is an excellent endocrinologist, everybody gets to know about them and wants to get onto their waiting list. How long is his list btw and have you told his secretary that you are very willing to jump in at very short notice should anybody cancel? Luv - Sheila I was wondering if there are any other users here have been to see an Endocrinologist in the Glasgow area ? I'm in the process of being referred to the RAH in Paisley and don't fancy pot luck with whoever I'm allocated to, my choice there has a very long waiting list. If anyone wishes to share their experiences, please get in touch with me. Thanks Neil
Guest guest
Hi Neil, I was referred to the RAH 2 years ago, and had no joy because my bloods were still in range. The only thing she done for me that the docs didn't, was test for antibodies, which was positive. She wasn't interested in the fact I had all the symptoms. It was a lady doc, who didn't specialize in thyroid, which is what I requested. I ended up traveling down to Newcastle to see Dr P. Guest guest
Hi Sheila Been told he is around 20 weeks and is the Head of the Dept so could explain why he is really busy. Wondering if I shouldn't go private again, but I can't even seem to find another endo other than the one I already saw - which I'm not going through that again. has responded too and mentions a female Dr, but according to latest staff list of the Dept she must have moved on. Will have to just wait I think or travel further afield to see a good one ! Cheers Neil
Guest guest
I might have found someone willing to help ! I did a google search for Thyroid/Pituitary/Adrenal specialists in Scotland and I found a Dr who lists these as his " Clinical Interests " , only thing he is almost 40 miles away. I've emailed him a brief description of symptoms and info of what has been done so far and he's responded personally with a very positive attitude to wanting to help. Only issue he is with another health board and I don't think my GP can refer outwith the NHS GGC Health board area. He does run a private clinic, so need to speak with my insurance co to see if they would be willing to let me see him. Fingers crossed .... Guest guest
Neil, this is great. Do you know though whether he will treat using other thyroid hormones apart from levothyroxine-only? If he does, then please write to me privately and let me know his name and the clinic address where he works from. So many look OK 'on paper' but when we actually meet them, reality becomes another thing and find they really are just like all the rest. I hope this one is the person you are looking for and who will help you. Luv - Sheila I might have found someone willing to help ! Guest guest
Hi Neil, Just wondering how you got on, or if you went to the RAH? Who was your endo of choice at the RAH, was it a guy, Dr B? I know we're not allowed to mention names, but there might not be more than 2 male Dr's with the initial B Jean > > I might have found someone willing to help ! Guest guest
Hi Jean Neil is no longer with us. It takes 90 days for to delete an account so perhaps this is why his email address is still showing, although I would have thought the Moderators may be able to delete it as it is no longer valid.
