Guest guest
Hi all, Was wondering what times of day are best to take selenium, zinc and vitamin c? Have heard that zinc should be taken alongside the levothyroxine in the mornings, but on the packet it says to take it with a meal. So far I've been taking them all with my dinner. Also, I've recently started T3 alongside the levo but I actually feel worse. Could this indicate problems with the adrenals? I do have symptoms, including vomiting for no reason, no appetite, aversion to bright lights, gagging, fast heartbeat, air hunger etc etc. All these symptoms started November last year. Do I need to stop the T3 and sort my adrenals first? Thanks for any help, Jess
Guest guest
You should not be taking levothyroxine for an hour either side of food, the other supplements you can take with food. Have you actually done the 24 hour salivary adrenal profile to see how much cortisol and DHEA you are making at 8.00a.m. - 12 Noon - 4.00p.m. and again at midnight? No amount of thyroid hormone replacement (either T4 or T3) will work if you have any of the following: low adrenal reserve, systemic candidiasis, mercury poisoning (caused through amalgam fillings), low levels of ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. Should any of these be found to be low, you need to supplement whatever is low. I would get the testing kit for your Adrenals from Genova Diagnostics (see our FILES section accessible from the Home Page of this forum web site) and on the page that opens, scroll down the FOLDERS to 'Discounts on Tests and Supplements' and you will see Genova give TPAS members a discount. You must write that 'Thyroid Patient Advocacy' is your Practitioner. The results however, will be sent direct to you and not to TPA. If the results show you do have low adrenal reserve, then yes, you should stop the T3 for 7 days when starting to treat your adrenals with Nutri Adrenal Extra, which you can get 33% discount from Nutri Ltd - again because you are a member of TPA. You will find the relevant information you need again in the 'Discount' folder. Luv - Sheila Was wondering what times of day are best to take selenium, zinc and vitamin c?
