I have been taking a Vitamin D supplement regularly and not sure if I have left enough time without taking it before the blood test?? I have not taken it today - my test is tomorrow. Will this be enough time to test my own Vitamin D levels or should I wait till next time and if so how long to leave without supplement before test?> > Oh, and I found a file explaining I need to ask for '25-hydroxy-vitamin D' test other than '1,25-dihydroxy-vitamin D' just to confirm this correct?

Hi Beki,

I would not worry about it - your Vit D3 levels, supplemented or not, either will be ok or they will be too low. Stopping the supplements for a few days would not make much difference, I don't think. D3 levels rise slowly.... Depending on the results I would adjust supplementation. If your levels are low, then you obviously need to supplement further, and if they are ok then you have done the right thing supplementing and I would carry on until the summer to keep them reasonably high. It is not likely that they will be excessively high after this long cold winter in the UK unless you had taken mega doses. - The vitamin you want testing is Vit D3.... not sure which of the hydroxy vit D that would be

Good luck tomorrow,
