Guest guest
Hi My latest blood results on 75mcg Levo: TSH 3.7 (ref cant remember bottom but top 4) T4 12 (ref 8-20 I think) sorry just doing these from memory. Anyway Sheila has very kindly helped me draft a Letter to GP requesting my dose be increased to 100 or to refer me to an endo. The letter is typed up but I haven't sent the letter yet(Im being a coward). Last week due to me running out my 25mcg Levo I took two 50mcg tabs in instead of my usual 50 and 25. I got palpitations afterwards. Im just wondering now does this mean that dose is too high or can it sometimes take a while to get used to a new dose? I didnt get any other symptoms i.e. sweating or shaking etc. My bloods show Im no where near overmedicated so why would increasing by 25 give me palpitations? I dont want to get my request from the GP and my dose increase to then have them panic because Im getting palpitations and maybe decrease my dose again. What do you think? Guest guest
Hi, Yes, you can get palpitatations with a dose increase, and when you body gets used to the increased dose it can all settle, however that is not always the case, but you won't know unless you have the opportunity to try. You may like to consider taking magnesium to help settle your heart rate if this does become a problem. Those test results do indicate undermedication, most full replacment dosesare 125-150mcg so you may have to increase again in the future. > thyroid treatment > From: j.leighton498@...> Date: Tue, 10 May 2011 08:39:56 +0000> Subject: Quick question please re. palpitations> > Hi> > My latest blood results on 75mcg Levo:> > TSH 3.7 (ref cant remember bottom but top 4)> T4 12 (ref 8-20 I think) > > sorry just doing these from memory.> > Anyway Sheila has very kindly helped me draft a Letter to GP requesting my dose be increased to 100 or to refer me to an endo. > > The letter is typed up but I haven't sent the letter yet(Im being a coward). > > Last week due to me running out my 25mcg Levo I took two 50mcg tabs in instead of my usual 50 and 25.
