Guest guest
Hi I have an appointment with my GP on Wednesday when I hope she will be prescribing Armour Thyroid following a recent consultation with Dr S where I said I wanted to try Armour as my health seems to have plateaued recently with levo 150 daily. My GP was positive and awaiting the confirmation letter before telling me whether she was actually going to prescribe it so fingers crossed. Dr S has suggested 1 grain for 1 month then 1 1/2 grains for 4 weeks. I wonder if I just stop taking levo then straight away or whether it is a gradual reduction - any advice will be gratefully received. Thanks Shell
Guest guest
Are you taking some Nutri Adrenal Extra after stopping the levothyroxine Shell? You need to boost your adrenals before starting on the natural thyroid extract. I should imagine your chest infection has quite a bit to do with how you are feeling right now and perhaps changing your thyroid medication should have waited until this infection had cleared once and for all. Read what Dr Lowe has to say about breathing problems http://www.drlowe.com/jcl/comentry/breathingproblems.htm but yours seem to be infection related. Luv - Sheila Whilst I was at the doctors I showed her the peak flow chart that she had asked me to keep over a 2 week period as I had been complaining fo being short of breath, wheezing and had an ongoing cough. The doc said not to worry as she walked out of the surgery patting me on the shoulder!!!!!!!! She went to show the nurse the chart who asked if I had made up the results (lowest 180 and highest 360 - after taking inhaler.) Luckily my GP said that I wasnt that sort of person to make it up! I am now on a steroid inhaler twice a day and still waiting for the results of the chest xray. I have read that many people suffer with asthma who also have thyroid problems but it is just another pain in the bum!!! I certainly dont want to be on steroids for long but hope that it will give my system a kick start and that the armour will also help to settle down the symptoms - hope i am right. _,_._,___
Guest guest
I'm not sure which board, but I just read an article that stated asthma was one of the 18 overlooked adrenal fatigue symptoms...you can google " 18 overlooked adrenal... I have taken Sheila's advice and stopped taking the Levo (150mg) for a week before starting the armour and am now on day 3 without it. Not sure if it is psycological or not but felt pretty crap today - very tearful and certainly cross and short tempered and rather miserable. I hope that this doesnt get much worse over the next few days and just hope that i am doing the right thing by trying to change my meds. The last 2 times when i got a chest infection I was very low again and was really frightened that I wouldnt pick back up and end up being as poorly as I was this time last year and ended up being off work for more than 6 months. I will let you know how I get on. If anyone has had any similar experiences, i would love to hear how things have improved (hoepfully!)
