Our GP surgery is just the same. If lab tests come back with a big asterisk,

marking an abnormal result for the GPs attention, they still say something like,

" Oh, that's nothing to worry about. " I would say it was pretty much impossible

to get them interested in our health problems.

test, only to ignore the results? And is this the reason why I couldn't get hold

of the results myself?

i had a testosterone test done, and it came back low - the lab had put a comment

saying it was subnormal, and to test other things.

you guessed it, i was told it was normal. this was at a point when i couldn't

work, was very depressed etc. they couldn't care less, i don't think.

I too was told everything was OK after blood tests until we were allowed to have copies.    I then saw that systematically every result showed my haemoglobin was marked as low.    I then asked for a ferritin test which was extremely low in the range, something like 22 out of a range of 20 - ?.     I was told that ferritin was alright as it was within range.   I questioned my haemoglobin which was below range.

I wanted to know WHY I had low haemoglobin not just be dismissed as not to worry.    It was then that he decided to investigate, and thank goodness he did because during the investigations it was found that I had colon polyps which were precancerous.    So I am glad I pressed the point and not just let it go.

They also found that the haemoglobin is an absorption problem.Lilian

Hi Lilian and

This is an absolute outrage!!

I am shocked to hear that so many people are failing to simply have their

results relayed back to them.

This is not due to the GP's lack of specialism, since the lab have done all the

work for them! They are surely neglecting to let their patients know the

results!

Ooooh - I'm starting to get a rage on about this.

OK - deep breath(!) - apart from insisting each time that we get a copy of our

results each time, on black and white, what else is there to do?

Is every GP acting in the same way?

I am definitely off to find a better GP/doctor's surgery since I have annoyed

and rumbled mine... but does this mean I'm going to exhaust every GP surgery in

Cardiff and still not find a Decent Doc???

I have had to pay for private treatment to start to feel that I am being treated

for my illness. I am disappointed to feel that this is the way forward. I'll be

skint, but I'll be healthy!!!

Aaahh, rant over. Feel better now!

Del Cardiff.
