Hi Mark,

There is nobody better than Dr Peatfield, and although it is not free it is vry

Hi Janet,

Thanks for your reply. I read his book so really rate him, but isn't the problem

that he is no longer practising as a doctor? So how could he, for example,

prescribe replacement T3 if he thought that were needed?

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark

Have you considered ordering your own tests? If you look in the "files" section, and under "D" for "Discounts on supplements and tests" you can order your own tests (which are discounted for TPA members). You could then post the results on here for analysis and if there is an issue with T3 or rT3 you could then show it to your GP.

Have you considered taking an adrenal supplement? The symptoms of hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue are very similar and some say that treatment with Thyroxine shouldn't be started until any adrenal issues are fixed. Nutri Ltd offer TPA members a 33% discount on adrenal and thyroid supplements. I have personally used "Nutri Adrenomax" (which doesn't contain any adrenal glandulars) and have found this to be very good.

Just a thought,

Hi Mark

You are right that Dr P cannot prescribe, but he is still a very good doctor and

can guide you to good health in his role as a nutritionist, as he has done for

many of us. It will be up to you to find your supplements and medicine which

are cheaper without a prescription anyway. There is information about this on

the files on this site telling you where they are available and you have the

security of knowing that we all use these sources and that they are ok.

love Janet

Cheers Janet, that sounds great. In that case I will try to book with him.

Hi Gill,

Thanks for the info. I have done a cortisol test and it is low. I took Adrenal

Dynamite for 6 months with no effect, so I was keen to look at my thyroid. Yes I

have thought about my own tests, I'll check out the section tonight - cheers.

Send you are list of recommended doctors with a couple of

personal recommendations. Hope this helps. Many patients are given a diagnosis

of CFS, FM or ME when their thyroid function test results are returned within

the so called 'normal' range. All of these can be treated with T3 in most

cases.

Hi,

Thought I would quickly introduce myself. I have been diagnosed with Chronic

Fatigue Syndrome for nearly 2 years now, but I basically have all the classic

symptoms of hypothyroid that have been accumulating over the past 4 years or

so. My symptoms are (in no particular order):
