Hi i have had atheletes foot on the base on one of my feet for almost 5 years

now which started small and now is a large patch, i insisted i went to see a

dermatologist as all creams my GP gave me was not clearing it. The Dermatologist

did a scraping test and confirmed it was fungal infection and gave me 250mg of

terbafine one a day to take for 2 months, after three weeks i got a bad rash for

4 which i think now was my hashimoto related as i am not on any thyroid meds yet

as i am still waiting for my ertha to come (diagnosed in january this year). The

rash was quite bad it made my face swell for 1 day and swollen hands and fingers

for 3 days so i went to my local walkin centre and the nurse told me to stop the

terbafine as this was one of the side effects, i told them i had been on it for

3 weeks and i was fine up until now but they said just to stop taking it and let

my doctor know. Do i have severe internal candidiasis, i have done the spit

test and it shows i have? Also could the rash have caused my thyroid problem and

not the terbafine? I dont know whether to carry on taking thetablets or find

something else? I have seen some messages on here relating to fluconazole

I take 1 NAX daily at present which i started only a week ago

1 1000 vit C and 1 selenium 200ug. Can you please advise as my foot is getting

more itchy and sore by the week since coming off the terbafine.

Thanks

Ali

Very basic, I know, but people have reported great success by

using the vapour rub 'Vick' or plain old toothpaste on athlete's foot. Try a

small patch and see if it has any effect.

You could very well have severe systemic candidiasis and I would

highly recommend you contact Genova Diagnostics to get them to test you to see

whether you have candida antibodies. Go to our Files section accessible from

the Home Page of this forum web site thyroid treatment

- click on FILES in the Menu, on the page that opens scroll down to 'Discounts

on Tests and Supplements'. On that page, open the 'Genova Diagnostics' file and

you can order the candida test from these, ALWAYS quoting that Thyroid Patient

Advocacy is your practitioner in order to get your discount. The results will

be sent direct to you.

Also, to learn about the best way to treat candida, again in our

Files section, open the FOLDER entitled 'Candida' and read all the information

there.

Luv - Sheila - who is a firm believer in such 'old remedies'.

Hi Ali

I was treated for Candida a few years ago and the first thing I had to do was

cut out sugar and yeast from my diet. I also took the following supplements:

Acidophilus (the live stuff you have to keep in the fridge!)

Kyolic Garlic

Colon Cleanse (containing aloe vera).

I also had a course of colonic hydrotherapy (not for the faint hearted). It did

work though and I felt great. I had more energy, lost weight and my skin looked

much better.

Just my personal experience, but worth thinking about. Also, have you tried tea

tree essential oil for your feet? Also worth a try.
